I need to know how you cross reference Urban Mining Squared, Natex, and TheNerds.net?

First 2 are the same company in Colorado.

Who's we? Thenerds.net? Your web site doesn't work. I'm interested in purchasing one of the motherboards.
Emulsifide is asking a Question not making a Statement. From there we learn that Natex=Urban Squared=Pam=Seller . No other evidence points to a correlation of Pam/Natex/Urban Squared to TheNerds.net.

Here is my order from the Natex.us site:

It does look like that link was added by a shopping script/robot running on the site.

Let's put this to rest and say that Pam Gorski does not appear to be affiliated to thenerds.net in any way that we can see right now.

I'm all for getting great deals as well

Why was she banned? because she was a vendor? Posted in the wrong forum?
This rule from the for sale forum should cover it.

9. No posting on behalf of an established business. These forums are only for personal transactions. Commercial entities may contact the site administrator about advertising opportunities.

That rule doesn't make any sense for this subforum at all.

We(the forum members) are posting links to sellers and websites left and right (this 50 page thread is proof) but said same business' can't come in here and post their stuff for sale? Why?

None of the sales we are doing in this thread are 'personal' transactions between members of STH at all.

Is the rule as long as we (the forum poster) are not affiliated with the site we can post links freely?

Not that this digression of the thread's original topic is appropriate, but I'd like to think that I trust "us" end-users and home lab'ers more-so than a shady company that wants to list what they have for sale. Did you see how all of us chomped at the bit to get a good deal on what they were selling? I know a number of us here could set up a convincing Magento web site in a matter of minutes and make it appear to offer the holy grail of items for sale that STH in general is always looking for. With that, I agree with the rule and I'm somewhat embarrassed that I forgot about it :p

Believe it or not, I trust you guys to provide first-hand accounts of what's good and what's bad because you've actually experienced the transaction or worked with the hardware/software I'm interested in.

I get that sentiment 100%.

If this is the reason why not have a vendor only area or has this been tried and failed. I know some sites offer vendor only areas where they can post their goods and services for sale (LowEndServer and LowEndTalk for example). Within a few posts you know if you are getting a good deal from a qualified vendor or dealing with Shady McSpammer.

Giving free advertising doesn't make good business sense. Make them pay. :p

We had issues a while back with these types of commercial postings. There is no reputation system so someone completes 5 "too good to be true" transactions then absconds. If you are buying through ebay/ PP, Newegg, Amazon or similar, then at least you have some recourse/ assurance that what you are buying is indeed legitimate. Early on STH history, I got dragged into a dispute between someone and an unscrupulous vendor who sent a chassis instead of a system. Frankly, I do not have the time to spend on something like this again. You would be surprised, but after this I basically stopped doing outside of ebay transactions as it was ugly.

If we ever did have any "real" advertisers, then @Fritz is right, it ends up being bad policy to have people spamming free advertising and getting lost with the folks who setup up 15 minute Wix sites. We do not have this today, but maybe one day we will have preferred vendors that get vetted beforehand before being able to put a banner up. I also do not want to go the way of some "blog" sites that are really sales funnels solely for one reseller/ platform. I also do not want them to have sales people hustling on here even if they are advertisers.

Just to give you an idea, I get approached at least once a week by alleged sales reps from companies who sometimes do not have websites. I point to that exact rule and show them that commercial postings are only OK for advertisers. Know how many of those folks even follow-up to ask how much advertising is? ~1 per year. Since we do not have these types of advertisements, there is not a standing rate. However, interesting part is that the thought of having to invest in advertising is a huge deterrent. That rule saves me a lot of time. There are some commercial posters who had one time inventory that we did make an exception for and that worked out well. I personally did some of the first transactions and in some cases met these vendors face-to-face.

All of that aside, the #1 reason behind this is actually more important. What happens when you have 10 sales reps from 10 different vendors with 2 d/b/a's each and every thread on every forum becomes "hey I see you want a Xeon E3 V5 but I have this great used E5420 system for less!" followed by "I have an AMD Istanbul system we just used the dustbuster on for even less than that one." Having the blanket policy against this sort of commercial messaging helps a bit. Limiting to member posted deals means the people posting are not pressured by end of week/ month/ quarter/ year sales quotas and are more likely to focus on the right answers for people rather than just trying to move old inventory that they could not find a bulk buyer for.

Case and point - we had a rep join today and in a matter of minutes generate 14 posts trying to sell to the community from some company few if anyone ever heard of. I would love the forums to be busy, but what happens when 20 reps join trying to peddle wares directly to folks on here? The great content and helpful nature of the forums gets too diluted. For your reference, new active members post, on average just over two posts during their first day.

Apologies for the long post, but here is the TL;DR - the rules we have have been thought out in great detail and are all here for a reason.

Shame vendors don't flock to this community. I can see why rules are in place. Thanks for clarifying.

On a side note: I spoke with Pam/UrbanR2/Natex, had a 30min chat with her, if anyone is interested in the gear they have available I can forward that information onto you.

Notes:

1. I don't work for them, I just found out about them 3 hours ago, the company seems as legitimate as other companies, another e-recycler just like any of the other dozen I talk to.

2. They want to talk to @Patrick as well to understand more about what happened and how best to work with STH. but she's having a hard time finding contact information, phone number, etc. I told her to use the contact form on the main page.

Learning experiences all around.

Solid post. If STH were ever to bring on vetted vendors they should get their own subforums forum similar to how overclock.net has representative forums for different vendors and brands.

Yup totally understand the reasons behind the ban. FWIW I just got a Fedex tracking # from them but it's not yet active.
