I got QYFS for my Asrock W790, but it had no POST with code 00 in the exact same setup that booted for my W3 Xeon. The CPU is assumed DOA, but is there anything that I may be missing in my tests of it?

QYFU work fine with Asrock W790 WS 7.01 bios.
Could it be that my BIOS is too old for the ES CPU somehow? I've got the 3.01 BIOS. Alternatively it could be QYFS does not work with the board, but QYFU does.
This is all assuming that the CPU is not actually dead...

No the cpu not bad.
Update the bios with pendrive, not need anithing.
And work with the cpu.

Go to Asrock site download the 7.01 bios this file:W790-WS_7.01.ROM and unzip!
And you make the new one name this:CREATIVE.ROM
Then copy to the pendrive the bios file.
Computer only standby mode and press bios FLBK button.

Can QYG6 works well in W790-ACE? I cannot find any detailed information yet.
QYG6 is 8469C ES2 D0 48C 2.50Ghz
'C' confidential SKU for select customers. you never know what is different.
just buy and test ( like i would do for fun )
why don't you go with QYFS on the safe side ?

QYFS has too many cores, but limited power. I want a not too bad single core to run my code, so maybe QYG6 is the best choice for me. With 48 cores parallel in Matlab, the frequency of QYG6 is 3.1*1.1 G. Really good for me

Barev, Interesting CPU. Yes please share the HWinfo report or screenshot.
Also if you need higher clocks and fewer threads on matlab you can probably get Max speed turbo if you disable half the cores.

Does anyone have the toturial for the overlock of the ES cpu in W790? I can just let the QYG6 at 108 bus speed with 2.35, 1.8V in. Larger than 108, I can not enter the Ubuntu 22.04 system.

BCLK change PCIe USB / Sata clock too. depends on your GPU how high you can go.
108mhz is very high, rare reached by others.
SPR-SP have a fused per core power limit, much above 4Ghz is not possible or result in crashes.
i could OC my QYFQ from 3.3Ghz (default) to 3,9Ghz. but if you already have 4ghz boost or 3,7ghz there is not much room.
be happy to have a cheap CPU on that platform.

I want to know how you change the multiplier of your CPU? Directly change and fix it in W790 BIOS? I do not have any information to turbo my CPU.

Just a thought.
I have the Asrock W790 WS motherboard, I use it with a E7-2475X CPU, but allow me to make a suggestion.
It would probably be helpful to those in this thread to always state which bios version is being used, as I have noticed a slight, but quite measurable increase in performance depending on the bios with the E7-2475X, so I would venture there would be like results for other CPUs and perhaps even enhanced compatibility. Currently the 9.01 bios gives me the best the performance, YMMV.

But how you get so high OC speed in your QYFQ if you can just change the BCLK?
