Hello to all,
Need advice on RAM speed on Supermicro X10DRL-i and Xeon E5-2650 V3 QFSB.
RAM is DDR4-2133 ECC 4GB x 4pcs.
But it runs as DDR4-1867 only, no difference if configured as 2133, 2200 or "Auto" in bios (2.00).
Is it possible that RAM actually NOT 2133 (counterfeit) ?

looking for some advice as well. Looking to get a set of v3 or v4 xeons and have narrowed it down (mainly due to unavailability of many of the better chips) to these:
v4 2650 qhzh (2ghz base but higher turbo) (but lower uncore value - does this matter?)
v4 2650 qhv6 (2.2 ghz base but lower turbo)
Or the trustee old v3 2658 qeyp (which i cant find for $150 anywhere)
So is any of the v4's close enough to QS for stable usage? Both are listed as ES2
I do have some weird PSOD issues with my 2630L v4 and ESX (on boot only) but honestly I cant say whether its the CPU or the unsupported vSAN hardware. I assume its the latter, but ...

I'm now looking at the E5 2686 V3 ES ($349) vs E5 2686 V3 QS ( $399)
QS- Intel Xeon E5 2686 V3 QS 2.0Ghz 45MB L3 18 Core Max Turbo 3.5GGhz 120W Processor
ES- Intel Xeon E5 2686 V3 ES 2.0Ghz 45MB L3 18 Core Max Turbo 3.5Ghz 120W CPU
Both look to have the same stepping. Is it worth spending the extra $50 for the QS?
Thanks, I was able to buy 2x Intel-Xeon-E5-2690V4 ES CPUs.
I will review the CPUs as soon as possible and I will share my experience with them here.
Just grabbed last piece of e5 2686v3 from ebay for 399, wanted two but only once piece was left.
Also i found people in taobao selling them in case they are not on ebay.

The e5 2686v3 QS with xtrememicro keeps restocking with "1 remeaning". I picked one up aswell.
Pretty sure the ES that was priced $50 cheaper is basically the same chip.

Could you help me (point out exact models to look for or get if available) with build?
I'm trying to build a rig for game streaming from 1 PC only. Mostly World of Tanks for now, but I'd like to be able to stream something more resource demanding from time to time.
My current stream setup is 2 PC via NGINX server:
Game rig is
- she wanted it to play games because I was going to get powerfull PC and she will get something cheap bla bla bla... now it just reminds me how much I've paid for a dust catcher...)
I've almost pulled the trigger on dual E5-2670 v1 setup... Then noticed how power hungry it will be and abandoned that idea.
I've spen few weeks browsing various sites and finally landed here. Haven't seen so much detailed info anywhere else, that's why I've decided to post here.
Everything would be easy if I'd build second PC only for encoding - half of these ebay Xeons would apply. However that's impossible and I have to stick with upgrading gaming PC. No room for another PC in terms of electricity and heat. I hope for lowering both when I stop using that laptop.
That's why I need your help in choosing right CPU for the job. Is it even possible to get CPU + MOBO + 16GB RAM under 700$ for this kind of build? (or 650€ since I'm in Europe). Maybe something close to that price? I hope some one here has experience in such use scenario

Processor: Intel Xeon E5-2658 v3 ES LGA2011-3 12C Compatible with X99 i7-5820K 5930K 5960X
Ram: Crucial BLS8G4D240FSC - Ballistix Sport LT - DDR4 - 8 GB - DIMM 288-pin - 24...
The above comes in @ £421.14 (468 euros) and is more than adequate and leaves the opportunity to upgrade if you see fit.

Does anyone know/heard off difference in gaming/encoding with HT switched off? There are chips without it but I didn't find anything special about them yet.
I have played Mafia 3, Mortal Kombat X, and Grid Autosport and I have not had any issues, fps are good and steady.Thanks for answer. That upgrade looks really nice for it's price

I picked up the QS, but would have got the ES if it was in stock. Sold out within 1 hour of that post.
Yeah I noticed the only difference appeared to be the CPU-Z detection where the QS chips registered as a specific chip labeled (ES) and the ES chips registered as a genuine intel.
The Xeon E5-2650 v3 QFSB supports up to 1866mhz quadchannel, never seen HWinfo screenshots with more.
