im new to this, can anyone explain the deal with the DELL F4Y1M? i want to get a Platinum 8461V QYFU and was wondering if it'll work on it, if it doesnt work then i would love to hear alternatives if not i'll probably get a known mobo that works but this dell one seems really good for the price, sorry if im being a bother im just new to these engineering sample things and dont know much
I've had hands-on experience with these boards from just dealing with the Precision 5860s elsewhere. These suck; very long post times ~1m 20s with nothing of note enabled.
Quirk: Powering off by holding the power button, like most Dell Precisions, causes them to power back on -then- off, which can be confusing if this behavior isn't known. But on the 5860 it takes the better part of a minute before it powers back off to let you try to power on and boot normally.
Proprietary front panel, PSU connections too. Non-bypassable fan and even M.2 heatsink warnings (causing another 1m 20s POST sequence if acknowledged), proprietary fan connection, etc.

From the bottom of my heart, use a different board.

the BIOS doesn't support D0, even not very old one. maybe early E0. BIOS may be modified and flashed by SPI programmer(e.g. ch341a) but not tested. if Intel ME doesn't start ES there is no way because the required Tools (mfit) for that ME version are not leaked so far.
on the first view the F4Y1M looks cheap, but it needs propriätäry PSU from Dell, doesn't fit in any standard case etc.

Want to formalize info on this board; seems like that one NL eBay listing from last year was the only place it's been seen so far.
the CPA is a suctom OEM motherboard for a European Datacenter Company.
you will never get any support, warranty or new BIOS from Gigabyte, you have to ask the OEM Company which is unknown to me.

I scanned over this thread and didn't see any mention of a CPU I saw on ebay. It's QX97, being sold as a W-3375 ES.

It's got lower base speed printed on the processor and no other information on the listing.

ES = mostly lower clocked.
QS = same clocks than prod.unit.
QX97 is afaik stepping C0 = not work on latest BIOS.
edit: Gigabyte MU72-SU0 runs it.
Qx97 is cpuid 606A6 stepping Dx

truly impressive expertise!
my main goal is using SPR-SP ES CPU to test 300 series optane dcpmm with different SKU. since i have succeeded with C741 chipset and Q079, i am wondering the possibility to power (or even overclocking) them with W790 chipset, so i am looking for some suitable W790 motherboards. I’m short on funds, so I have to be thrifty.
anyway, thanks for all the info.
Does any c741 motherboard support DCPMM 300?

I have got q077 and qyfs with motherboard ms03 ce0. But I found out that the cpu cannot boost over maximum frequency of all cores (2.7 GHz for q077) even at light load, which should be easily over 3 GHz. So I wonder what’s the problem?

The system installed is windows server 2022. And I have set the power policy to BestPerformance in BIOS and windows. Still not working. The only way that works is to adjust the count of cpu cores to 16 in BIOS by setting the disable mask

if you tweak the system to multithreaded performance you wonder you loose single threaded ?
max single core boost works only if many cores have NO LOAD(idle 800mhz), with windows high.perf. that realy rare happen.

So as a D0, could it work with Supermicro X12SPA-TF on some/all BIOS?

Any ideas on getting a pair of Q2P1 (8952+ ES) working on a Gigabyte MS73-HB1?

I know it's not the latest ES but it's all I could get on eBay currently.

Tried the bios that the mobo came with and the latest, can get into IPMI to update that and BMC.

Mobo power lights come on, can access IPMI, but if I try to boot, the power cuts off within about 1 second and doesn't work again unless I unplug the ATX cable and re-plug. Tried a second PSU already that's known working which was my first guess, now I think it's the CPU microcode.

I was under the impression Gigabytes work for ES CPU's but guess not in this configuration.

It's model family F model F stepping 1.

Thank you for your time!

no, the microcode is there.
you have other issue, bad CPU, bad CPU installation.
system should turn on, maybe no display but it sounds you have a short circuit or overload.
have you any pictures ? maybe we can see some missing cables e.g.
i have seen Q2P1 only at ebay, not on goofish nor taobao, no further info, which is weird/strange.
