Nice, if I only knew if they would outside a Cisco box. Looks like they probably do. 9w idle up to 25w. PCIe3 not 4.

HSV and SFO
how are they new if they are a 7 year old model?
Could be new old stock or fakes.

Interesting seller--they're actually local and don't have any other IT stuff in their store (mostly industrial diesel stuff) so weird that they even have these for sale.

I have some Cisco OEM Samsung SAS SSDs, they work fine in my Supermicro chassis and I was even able to get the firmware eventually, I'm generally optimistic about their server gear.

Note these do have vents in the front of the drive and that usually means they require airflow through those ports, might be difficult to keep them cool in a desktop or quiet chassis.

Yup, my ex-employer in 2022 had 0,5M$ of MY2013’ server gear on stock, just as someone forgot about it. Common thing id say for these who print out cash.

Don't underestimate the slow (and stupid) processes of huge companies ._.
The company i left in 2012 still had a 20+ pallets of sealed CRT monitors, from a long line of "not my problem" and having more pallet space than strictly needed.

Intil unsold stock physicaly is in the way it feels fairly common to write off the loss and just stuff them in the pile of random stuff.

They're sitting on a gold mine if they still work. Probably still a gold mine even if they don't work since they're bnib. It's amazing how the bathtub curve is on some stuff, especially if you acquire them during the 'flat' stage.

No they are sitting on ewaste and hassle opening/sorting packaging etc.

Generic standard size models are not sought after bnib or not, they are dime a dozen.

My drive came in, for some reason I'm unable to post screenshots but on my W680 mobo connected with a SlimSAS to U.2 adapter it's showing up in the bios with 0.0 GB and a vendor ID of 1C58. Model number UCSC-NVMEHW-H7680 with nothing showing up in Ubuntu. Hopefully someone figures out how to change the FW on these lol.
Edited for screenshot of the drive in the BIOS

Have you tried using a PCIE to U.2 granted if it's showing up that's not a great sign. I believe we have 20 of these coming hopefully no vender locks on them.

I know we have around 80x 1.92TB SSD's which are vender locked we have to try and change I believe from PureStorage.

I don't have a pcie slot to u.2 adapter so I just have the cable going into the funny port on the motherboard (Asus Pro WS W680-ACE IPMI). I did verify within the BIOS that the port's set to PCIE though (also I'm able to attach screenshots now yay)

In the end did anyone receive those cisco drives? Do they work well on non cisco machines?

I received mine and have been off and on trying to get it so that I'm able to attempt to flash firmware with little luck. Last hope I have is a supermicro motherboard that I have lying around.
Currently on my Ubuntu system it’s recognized as a pcie device and boots but isn’t showing up as an nvme drive within the os. And on a machine I built from old parts the moment the drive is plugged in it'll hang and on the motherboard splash screen and never post.
