My E5-2680 V2 were delivered yesterday, hoping to get them installed in the Intel 4U/tower system this week.
Finally was able to get some for $300 shipped for 2.

So what's the current best bang for buck v2 cpu right now? A few weeks back I scored 8 E5-2650L V2s for 75/ea. Not gonna be as fast but they'll be in a 4 node cluster.

I would say the E5-2680 v2 (10 cores, 2.8 to 3.6 GHz) if you want the most cores per cost (about 180 USD), and the E5-2667 v2 (8 cores, 3.3 to 4.0 GHz) if you need a high clock frequency (about 330 USD). The E5-2696 v2 Xeons are getting more and more expensive... :(

I go 2 E5-2670v2 for $340, but I see now as low as 240ish.

I think I posted somewhere here before that theres no reason to get 2670 v2 since they were same price as 2680 v2 around 320+ for 2.

But if you can get two 2670 v2 for $240 then its worth it

I think I know which seller that was. he was just grossly over pricing it. I hope you choose list by lowest price because there was several other sellers selling them for $180 or less each.

I got myself a 2680v2 and tried some overclocking. I had to give it 1.150v to go beyond 106Mhz. I get 3.5GHz when loading all 10 cores.

Hi. How did you set up your e5 v2 xeon to run on x36 multiplier on all cores? Could it be done on Intel s2600cp motherboard?

I'm very new at this but --techyparts is within driving distance of me if I had issues that couldn't be resolved without a personal visit

When loading all cores I get x31. With BCLK at 113Mhz that means 3.5Ghz on all cores. I had to bump voltage to 1.160v to get it stable.

You can probably do the same on s2600cp.

Not v2 but, at aliexpress e5-2690 is $88,65 for real budgeters! 8 cores, all core turbo bin is 4, so all core frequency is 3300MHz....
Can you explain the turbo thing? I've been looking for v2's for my ml350p, but your linked item is tempting. Kind of regretting the 1650v2 I purchased for my z420 as well...

@posternutbag and the question you are asking:

Xeon E5-1650v2 is 6 x 3600 = 21600
Xeon E5-2690 is 8 x 3300 = 26400

26400 / 21600 = 1.2222222... times Xeon E5-2690 is faster than Xeon E5-1650v2.
