Was $244 just the other day, I show more than 100 avail, HOLY CRAP, what a steal! Just snagged 4, should have grabbed 8, these won't last folks, light it up!

Hitachi 0B24964 400GB 2.5 SSD SAS Hard Drive W/Tray (HUSSL4040ASS600)

I think some of you snagged these a week or two ago from a diff seller @ $189 and I thought that was a steal. Wowzers...enjoy!

EDIT, get em' before DBA swoops them all up! hahah

Saw that a few moments ago...you were faster! ;)

I thought the same, but one thing hold me back: they seem to be manufactured in 2008!? (Not sure...it's not readable because of this silly sticker over the manufacturer date)

I KNOW these drive have an INSANE PBW/endurance rating so I and MORE than comfortable jumping on these. If you have followed my numerous hussl threads arnd here you know the story.

.25cents per GB of SLC sas ssd, yep I'm all in, may go get 4 more if the Mrs. approves, I already confessed I bought 4 and she did not bat an eye so I say fair game :-D

Ahh these are the *ASS version of the *BSS drives I got the other day. @whitey had the smaller versions of both the *A/BSS drives as I recall and might know if there are any productive differences other than fw version and age.

The BSS drive I got is P/N 0B27397, HUSSL4040BSS600

Looks like an "8" hence 2008 mfg date in the 3rd picture with the extra label obscuring things where my drive as a 11SEP2012 on the top-right of the original label.

Should be worth it if they didn't write them into the ground yet.

Yeah, read that multiple times...checked the datasheet...you are right: Insane endurance rating...sounds unbreakable.
...but that are ~7 years  and they won't get younger...

WTF, still wanna push the buy button. :D

ASS is 34nm process of the nand, BSS is 25nm process if memory serves me correct. I have had both ASS/BSS versions and they both kill it on I/O.

I don't believe that 8 is for 2008. Here is the same drive without a sticker covering the top area:

Wohoo! Guess I was wrong.
(Second evidence: Found some other auctions with "Pre-Production Samples" of the ASS-drives which have a manufacturing date of 2010 -> 2008 can't be true.)

These could work great in my new vSAN cluster that I'm specing out for home.. The only question is, HOW MANY DO I NEED??!!

EDIT: Picked up 6, price just too good. I'll find a use for them :D.

What's the difference between the HUSSL and HUSML model from same seller for same price?

edit: Google-> HUSSL is higher endurance.

HAD to go grab 4 more, 8 should do me just fine!

EDIT: Up to 70 sold in 1 hour. Going like hot cakes! betting these are gonzo w/in another hour or two.

Now I don't feel so bad missing out on that 400GB $119 Intel/HGST deal back arnd black Friday timeframe. Those were MLC for sure if memory serves me correct.

I picked up 2 of them. It's about time I move my Hyper-V storage drives from SATA to SSD and this will be the first test for me. I'll probably kick myself later for not ordering more, but I'm trying to have some control over my spending via this forum.
