What picture are you seeing because I didn't see any models in mine. :D

But on a serious note, I too noted the gouge on the sticker in that photo which tells me these drives were knocking around which isn't a great first impression.
Yup.

That's some hours on them though.
True, but nowhere near the hours my recently bought S3500 800GB @ 46% health.

EDIT: I honestly don't believe the POH is accurate.

I recently bought a new, factory sealed Patriot Burst Elite 1.92 SSD from Amazon for $79.99. Prices are coming down.

That's the one thing bringing down prices of the used gear I guess.
Too bad we cannot get more affordable Xeon Ds

What is the endurance on these 1.92tb SATA ssds? This is crazy drop on flash prices. Any chance to get similar prices on sas3 drives

I was getting SM863 1.92TB for $50-60 each... granted, there's a firmware bug and they had many TBW, but the endurance on those SM863s is NUTS.

Their endurance is 3pb. Very hard to pass. If I didn't promise myself not to buy any other flash drives,....

The Sandisk Cloudspeed Eco ii has very good latency for a SATA drive. One of the best I've tested. I highly recommend these for databases. I've ordered the Seagate 1.92tb too but shipping to Norway takes a while these days.

Still waiting for the 800gb microns. But I have few from before, they also have very good latency. Both the sandisk and micron has 2x better latency than Intel S3*** series

What is so special about these xeon Ds?
Small footprint, decent computing power, support for a lot of ram* and depending on the motherboard all the io (hba/raid controller + 10gbe via sfp+ or rj45) you need for a "small" (home)server

*128GB with first gen xeon d

What is so special about these xeon Ds? There is so much love for them but I didn't notice major power savings, less than 20watt.
Last large dump of them was going as low as 150-170$ for these quantas with d1541, 12x3.5+4x2.5 10gbe, sas3 card/expander etc that was a custom config for ceph nodes.
i still regret not buying a stack of them.

Its not just bare xeonD boards that gets the love, but the mass dumps of servers with them tend to be very power efficient custom specs for cloud/storage at stupidly low prices.
