I have Epyc 7d12 and 7532. Honestly it's not that big of a deal to me but I do database work. I'm sure it would show up on a benchmark for sure but I don't know that I care.

I actually replaced the 7d12 with dual Xeon 2697 v4's and more RAM and I can't really tell the difference to be honest and I've got some pretty large datasets but I dunno. I also run tempdb out of a RAM disk.

    What is your workload?

only difference is 3 times the power usage from the older Xeons

I've got cheap power so I'm OK on that. The cost difference isn't really THAT much. I'd like to run the Epyc but RAM would be $5k+ in best-case scenario. I got 6TB of 64GB DDR3 sticks for $1k. I run a DL580 Gen 9 with DDR3.
