a friend of mine is selling his Z9PA-U8 - Specifications
A 2670 should work with it right even thought it says FCLGA2011?

Yes, a 2670 should work. Find out the bios version from your friend. Check ASUS support site. But prepare to flash bios.

I mean the hotlink that the site created says it supports 2600 and 2600 v2 family series cpus, can't imagine a v1 processor wouldn't work, more likely a bios would be needed for v2 chips.

That is a ES chip, it may have other or different issues. Most run great though.

While E5-2670 are in the spot light, I was able to pickup few below $100 E5-2660 cpu.
