Yes, a 2670 should work. Find out the bios version from your friend. Check ASUS support site. But prepare to flash bios.

I mean the hotlink that the site created says it supports 2600 and 2600 v2 family series cpus, can't imagine a v1 processor wouldn't work, more likely a bios would be needed for v2 chips.

Snagged two QB7A 2670s for $135 a piece. These don't have a VT-D bug, correct? Only the C1 stepping does?
