No worries. It was a tangly issue but no fault of yours! I had broken out wireshark, found a python example to dump out multicast, and subbed to the ip/port used by the hdhomerun (which is ssdp). I was seeing all kinds of traffic including the hdhomerun itself broadcasting out, it just never...
upgrading from 30t -> 30u solved the problem. Hat tip to a post I found on reddit here: I sent the guy a pm and he let me know 30u solved the issue. Flashed that, issue fixed.
I moved the hdhomerun and a laptop over to a dumb switch, works.
Super weird that some multicast is working (ie chromecast's are still working!) but the hdhomerun is not.
Of interest I can also see the hdhomerun beacon out (ie windows sees it and adds it to 'networking'. And I can see...
Seems multi-cast is working properly on the network except for that one device. I found a little python snippet i was able to test on several hosts w/ the right ip and port and i see the packets flying around from all the hosts trying to discover, but none from the device itself.
A bit confusing because everything i've read is that if no igmp is configured, the hardware should flood all ports. And come to think of it, this was working previously for me when I had the Brocade connected to the old switch. The 6610 was connected to two devices via the 40g ports (running in...
Hey Folks,
I've been trying to sort this out for the entire evening but I can't track it down!
I have a ICX6610-48p which I just recently moved everything over to from another managed switch. When I restarted one of my docker containers I noticed it was no longer able to detect my hdhomerun...
opnsense a fork of pfsense (many years ago) also has the same thing. https://user-images.githubusercontent.com/9783985/32417781-0af17704-c25f-11e7-88df-bc87d9469c10.png
Edit: There is also real time filtering, and its likely also avail over the rest api (though ive not looked)
@fohdeesha Could also ask for ebay profile of any person who want's a license. It would be easy to see the switch purchase in the users history and provide an 'identity'. It's reasonable to expect some history on the profile as well, buying a switch should not be your first trip to ebay :) nor...
The MTU isn't detected typically, its set by device. Where you likely ran into trouble was enabling jumbo frames, and then enabling 9000MTU on your pfsense interface. Is that accurate was pfsense lan nic set to jumbo frames?
Edit: If you think of your typical $30 8 port unmanaged switch from...
I don't know enough about the brocade stuff to tell you if the MTU is set per port only, or can be set per port, per vlan.
Keep in mind though, what that is really controlling is the max MTU that the switch will allow to pass through without fragmentation. Then there is the MTU you configure...
Ultimately, you probably do not want to run your normal lan at jumbo frames. Lots of consumer grade stuff as you've discovered will not play nice.
The solution is to create a storage vlan for esxi and any other devices you may want to have higher MTU fast access to freenas.
I don't have...
