I have bought a server from them before and they offer great prices and service...especially when I returned a server and left my unraid flash drive in it and they generously and quickly returned it at no cost.

So not a great deal apparently (given that none sold) :p

Too expensive after all?
Too old?
Too much AMD competition?

i was definitely interested when i saw it but i guess nothing will ever beat the E5-2699 v4 deal we missed out on.

I think it's a weird cpu. The "M" models support 1.5TB ram, but with 8 cores (16 cores in a dual cpu setup) I wouldn't use it for a huge vm host or a database machine...

Yeah, have been told, couldnt see those. Weird.
Makes me wonder though why all the other gen1 Scalables are still so expensive. Maybe sth wrong with these?

Change your filter to include sold items.
First thing I look at to determine if I should buy something off eBay just to resell at a profit.

that 1x p4800x from a few weeks ago netted me $400

The bargain hunters dilemma:
"There ain't no such thing as a free lunch." (TANSTAAFL)
vs.
"Don't look a gift horse in the mouth."

Still puzzled...
these have pretty good All Core performance... sound ideal for a TNC/ZoL filer
brilliant update for all these Xeon Silver's I read everybody uses

So what am I missing? Everybody jumped train to AMD for filers too? ;)

It's an 8 core cpu for over $500. Why would I want that? 14 core 2680v4 runs $150 and 18 core 2695v4 runs $200.

At this price, what's missing is another 20 cores.

Fair point, but 2680 has an All Core Frequency of 2,9 GhZ only and 2695v4 2,6GHz.

For me usually fewer faster cores are better (since i dont need/can't utilize massive parallelism),
but o/c if everybody needs more (slower) cores, that would be an explanation - just surprised that this applies to the average (ServeThe)Home-Lab'er too (who all love OverKill o/c)

2690v4 does a little better on clock speed and is still around $200.

I think anyone who wants to do better than that for single threaded speeds and is willing to pay 500+ is looking for Ryzen, maybe Epyc.

2690v4 is somewhat better but o/c still far.
6134 is basically the 2667 of old...

But you're probably right, there are other options available at the $400 pricepoint with 8 cores (and pcie lanes), so if you dont need the other Skylake features then its not attractive any more.

Thanks
