You can have a system that boots most of the way, but then throws a memory error due to a mis-seated CPU (ask me how I know ;)).
I doubt the socket is the problem because I have same error for CPU1 ( slot A1) and CPU2 (slot E2).
memory is memtesting now. ordered E5-2603v3 and 8GB 1rx4 2133 ECC REG

SuperMicro X10DRi, 2* E5-2680v4, 4* 64GB Samsung DDR4 64GB LRDIMM 2400 1.2V 4Rx4 M386A8K40BM1-CRC4Q.
systems does not boot and "Failing DIMM: DIMM location (correctable memory component found)" on the screen.
MB is not in case(no shorts).
All contacts at DIMMs and CPUs are cleaned with alcohol.
This CPUs and DIMMs works fine in another MB.
I just bought this used SuperMicro MB and dont know what BIOS version.
What should I check next?
With E5-2680v4 + 8GB DIMM sytem showed same error. With E5-2620v3 + 64GB LRDIMM system started normally. No need to buy 8GB DIMM. The BIOS version was 1.1 with Sangfor logo. This CPU allowed me to update BIOS to v 3.4a. After BIOS update E5-2680v4 + 4*64 GB LRDIMM works fine with 1CPU and 2CPU configuration.
thanks everyone for help.

I get "Failing DIMM: DIMM location (Uncorrectable memory component found) DIMMC1 and DIMMH1" on a SuperMicro X10DRU-i+

Note that the two locations are one on each of the two CPUs.
  • BIOS was set to defaults first thing when I received processor.
  • I've re-ordered DIMMs; failing locations do not change, so it seams it's a board issue.
  • I've manually set frequencies from auto to 2133
My next two steps in order are to remove, clean, and re-seat the processors, then to inspect standoffs. Any advice on the standoffs? Like, are there any that tend to be the culprit more often than not? I'm very experienced with consumer mobos, but removing a huge, proprietary motherboard from a server chassis is new to me, so just want to check if there's anything else I may need to know...

EDIT: Cleaned both CPUs w/ alcohol & coffee filter. No dice.

Hello,
I have a Supermicro X11SPL-F motherboard.
I had the following issue, a message when booting the server/computer:

Failing DIMM: DIMM location. (Uncorrectable memory component found)
DIMMF1

I came to this site and thread, and here I read "After removing the standoff everything is perfectly fine.".
Guess what. There was a standoff right under DIMMF1.
After removing that standoff, the issue disappeared.

I registered to Servethehome to thank you all.

Kind regards,
Philip
