Looking to upgrade a server with more/faster ram.

Have been scouring eBay for the past few weeks yet no great deals have popped up.

Looking for a deal on DDR3 ECC:

(256GB) 16x16GB 1.5v 14900R
(256GB) 16x16GB 1.5v/1.35v 12800R

(128GB) 8x16GB 1.5v 14900R
(128GB) 8x16GB 1.5v/1.35v 12800R

(128GB) 16x8GB 1.5v 14900R
(128GB) 16x8GB 1.35v 12800R

Seems like RAM prices have gone up the past few months.. Good deals around Dec 2016 was showing:

16GB 12800 sticks ~$40

8GB 12800 sticks ~$13
8GB 10600 sticks ~$8

Yes, RAM has gone up and so have SSD in the last few months.

The only $40 16GB you're finding now are 8500R not the fastttttttttt DDR3 you're after.

Most of that faster DDR3 is still sitting in e5 v1/v2 systems...
Some early leases ending but I Guess most still running.
Although I say this but most of my e5 v1/v2 are full of 32gb lrdimm not 16gb rdimm so maybe my assumption is off.

I figured companies liquidating their E5-2670 fleets would liquidate the entire system as the newer replacements used DDR4.

RAM prices seemed to bottom out in late Q3 2016 and have risen since then. Now in 2017, prices have been slowly coming down as demand has slowed.

All depends... some open compute stuff just gets stripped and sold as parts, sometimes leasing companies treat and spare part upgrades in a different way.
Generally I would think what you say is true but the people buying them also split them up to make a few more $$

Now that's a Great Deal!
It better be! :) Took quite some time to find and then negotiate this deal.

Dang. Do you mind if I ask who the seller was? I could bite at that price...
Happy to share after I receive the modules and verify everything checks out. Expect a PM in a few days and then I'll post in Great Deals.

Everything checked out. Pinged DavidRa with the listing. If he doesn't clean them out, will post to the rest of the community.
