Well, I just picked up a early ROME ES 'JUG5' this week for $1,000.The days of the 2,500 and $2,000 es or qscpus are over. Those prices are never coming back. The cheapest you can get some are from China is 4,000 bucks good luck.
There were 2 x zs1406e2vjug5 on ebay for $2500 each. The posting was up for a few days, and then someone snatched them up. So those days aren't over yet. And this was from a good seller. The days of the 2,500 and $2,000 es or qscpus are over. Those prices are never coming back. The cheapest you can get some are from China is 4,000 bucks good luck.
I completely agree with you but on the other hand you have to let people make their own decisions it's a matter of value. Sometimes you offer something that has a great value that it's a retail like you said and folks don't see the bigger picture because they want to spend as less as possible or sometimes even cheap. My mind you , you get what you paid for.I'd just wait for prices to go down, I think the retail ROME shortage is pushing prices up. $2500 is an awful lot to pay for a CPU that requires modded firmware to boot, doesn't really have turbo, and explodes if you twiddle the registers wrong. 7B12's are retail and worth $3500, there's no difference between those and a 7742, but I don't think a ZS1406 is worth much more than $1000. You can buy a pair of 8260 ES for a little more than $1000 - they're slower than a 7742 but way faster than a stock ZS1406, are supported on any board which supports Cascade Lake, and have good turbo clocks.
Im intrested in finding out more about the JUG5, can someone elaborate function with the SuperMicro H11DSI REV2.0?I have a few zs1406e2vjug5 available along with 1 socket boards ( SM, ASrock, Tyan) , they are a beast when OCed. PM me if really interested.
