Damn... I was holding out for some Black Friday goodness on Vega 56, but Newegg is sold out today.
newegg often sells graphics cards at a discount via ebay. vega 64 was on ebay for $499 the other day while vega 56 was 469 minimum. So I picked up a 64 even though it's only supposed to be marginally faster.

There were some 56's on newegg briefly for $400 the other day, but that didn't last long.

Tried it on Linux yet?
I spent a couple days on it. Real frustrating experience. Then tried windows 7 (no dice) and windows 10 (worked this time, with occasional glitches). Going to have to say, not much has changed in 20 years -- ATI drivers are still junk.

Tweaked GPU voltage last night at 6PM
Still stable after 12 hours

Changed OverdriveNTool.ini

GPU P7 875mv , Hashrate is 1998 H/s same as before 1994 H/s ,

Entire rig power is 224watt down from 242watt
base hosting computer consumes 50w , Vega 64 consumes 174w

Next up is to tweak Memory P3 to 850mv , GPU P7 to 850mv

Newegg had few sale on RX 580 8gb , RX 580 4gb , and RX 470 card.

After my experience with this Vega 64 card , I am skipping RX 580 and RX 470 .
I won't buy any older AMD card until I have enough Vega cards.

at $399, the Vega 56 is clearly king $/hash. I think the $399 days are long gone. (Cheapest I can find is $549) Which still makes the RX series a better $/hash as long as power isn't considered.

From what I've heard (not personally witnessed), Vegas beat the pants of everything else (both CPU & GPU) for XMR/eth. I was looking for two to go in my dual Xeon workstation/miner, but if I can solve a boot loop problem for a "spare" ITX board I have laying around I would get a third for it...

I thought 2KH/s @ ~220w is still the H/w number to beat?

Further tweaking of OverdriveNTool.ini

GPU_P7=1408;850
Mem_P3=1100;850

Entire rig power consumption is down to 210w
base hosting computer consumes 50w , Vega 64 consumes 160w
Hashrate stays the same 1998H/s XMR

Nice! Does your screen turn to snow with those intensities, or do you use a separate card for video output?

I think I am missing something with mine. I cannot get them over 1300h per Vega

Sell me your "defective" vega card. ;)

Follow the blog post link that I posted in the first post.
I used a G1850 with internal video card, tweaking is so much easier.
My hosting Windows 10 machine has 8gb ram
Make sure you have enough virtual memory, it worked with 24gb for 1 card , then changed to 60gb
Download all the software
Install the AMD block chain driver.
create the OverdriveNTool.ini , use the blog post example as safe starting point.
First time , I skip the soft power table registry mod , I was still getting 2KH/s with full power.
Then I add the soft power table registry to bring down power.
create startmining.bat , add the batch file to start during system startup

During mining, NO hdmi dummy plug or any monitor connected to any video port
I rebooted the machine many times , it just work and no drop in hashrate.

Well, I'm in for two Vega 64s. Intent is to put both in my 2x 2667v2 build. How big of PSU should I get?

Yep I followed the blogpost and have 64gb virtual memory. Using the blockchain driver and overdrive to set the cards

Try using device manager to disable then enable the vega card before starting xmr-stak-amd
I use devcon.exe to disable then enable the vega card before starting xmr-stak-amd

devcon.exe disable "PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_687F"
timeout /t 5
devcon.exe enable "PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_687F"

Before doing any work, the vega 64 card was hashing at around 1300 H/s.

Is your card vega 56 or vega 64 ?
If it is vega 56 , follow the blog post to flash it to a pseudo vega 64

I read in Reddit or OverDriveTool forum or Vega mining forum, forgot which forum.

Only change P6 and P7 is effective.

Yes, only the higher states can be changed when using Overdrive or Wattman. However, the other states can be updated via the Powerplay table in the registry. The 900-905mv preset is not stock as far as I know. I think I remember seeing stock voltages starting at 800mv in the lowest state and then they go up from there.
