I suspect that the CPLD update in the "v4 update package" may be necessary to support v4 cpus, above and beyond needing a 3b bios version.

I did not flash the cpld part, and my 2630 V4 (Engineering Sample) processor shows up. Good find out the downloads on hyperscalers, although they seemed to stop supporting stuff around 2017. They also only have the 1.2 Expander FW, yet Quanta has 1.3 available.

EDIT: flashing the S2B_3B09.01 update so far seems to work...

EDIT 2: I stand corrected, I guess you do need the CPLD update. My ES 2630 v4 was showing up as a HASWELL-EP chip @ 1800Mhz. After applying the CPLD update it shows as a Broadwell-EP chip at 2200Mhz in BMC. Strangely, it showed correctly in the BIOS before update.

EDIT 3: After updating to 3B09 BIOS, i was able to update to 3.55 BMC (release notes say it needs 3B05 or later BIOS). After 3.55 update, I was able to flash 3B10.01 BIOS. This brings me up-to-date with what hyperscalers has for downloads, altough still not the "latest and greatest"

EDIT 4: If you search hyperscalers site for the D51B-2U, they have a link to S2B_3B19.02 BIOS, but the 3.73 BMC listed takes you to quanta's now-broken download site, so doesn't seem to be a way to get the 3.73 BMC firmware.

EDIT 5: disregard edit 4, the "3b19.02" download actually downloads S2B_3a19. do NOT download this

Sell the DDR3 on ebay then.

I wish it was an option. There's no homelab community in Singapore and overseas shipping takes out the value of small items like DDR3.

Both servers have BIOS S2B_3B20 and BMC 3.81.00. I also used the CPU Upgrade Package.

Anyone had a similar attachment or have ideas for this problem?

Have you tried swapping the 2 V4's around to see if one has an issue? only thing i can think of.

@Xoid & @josh My second chassis just arrived, also with rails, trays, and a 12G adapter + BBU. I need to test everything and make sure it all works right, but If you guys can cover the cost of shipping, I'd be happy to split the trays 12 and 12 for you. Here's what I have now:

24trays
1 set of rails
1 BBU
1 3108 12Gbps SAS adapter
2 heatsinks
1x 10G SFP+ adapter (probably the 84599 or whatever chipset)

one of the slots in the new chassis doesn't light up at all (15th slot) but its not a concern, I won't be throwing 24 SSDs in this thing. Also the last slot is REALLY hard to get a drive in, as in once you get in you'd probably have to use pliers or a screw driver to get it back out. I don't see any damage around it, so maybe it's just the fat SSDs im using rubbing or something. Give me a few days to make sure everything is legit before I part anything out. with one stick per cpu it ran the fans full tilt, so I need to order some additional ram to test to make sure everything is kosher.

My units arrived completely empty Only rails and heatsink. Everything else was pulled from the units. They weren't new units either, some rust and dust on the chassis. Would love for some trays if you have spares.

Unfortunately I already parted out the trays. I do have the following though:

2x1200w psu
2x low profile HS (not 1u size, but slitly shorter than the top of the shroud)
1x 3108 controller +bbu and cables
1x backplane (note slot 13 doesn't work)

I do have a couple spare trays, and I have 2 d51b-1U chassis I'm going to try and sell, maybe I can pull a few from those. Would you be ok with like...6 or so? I'll have to see how many I have tomorrow.

I'd be happy with any number of trays tbh. Right now I have 3/3 units with zero trays lol.
At least the CPU/RAM haven't arrived yet so I wouldn't have been able to test them out anyway.

My chassis finally made it over the border and I picked it up today. Came with rails, all the drive trays, and SAS card. Mine was also in brand new condition, with packaged power cords and plastic film still on the top.

Going to populate it later today and see how it compares to my Intel chassis noise wise.

The port seems to be online but I can't figure out the IP. And since it's not booting I can't check in BIOS.
I have a V4 CPU in there so I'm not sure if it's because the BIOS isn't updated with the V4 support. BUT it should still beep just not POST even if the CPU isn't supported right?
I could order a V3 CPU for testing but I'm located outside the US so that will take at least 2 weeks to arrive.
