yep one 24 and one 8 pin connected and fully clicked in, nothing should short, i also tried to run it outside the case on top of an esd bag with the same result
another thing i just noticed is that the leds on the ipmi network port are orange and red,
when the system turns on one single green network port led is light but as soon as the ipmi led you mentioned earlier starts flashing it jumps to red and orange on the network port, the other two normal network ports always stay green
