Hello everyone,

I am currently working on a little backup system for a Supermicro server that has a 1+1 power supply redundancy. I noticed that Supermicro has a -48VDC (for example PWS-654-1R as a counterpart to PWS-704P-1R 230VAC option) power supplies for their servers.
Is it possible to replace one of the 230VAC power supplies with a -48VDC version and feed it a -48VDC from a power supply with battery backup?
I would assume that both versions of the power supply whould be the same on the output part.

It may seem like an unnecessary overcomplication, when you can simply buy an UPS with 230VAC output and be done with it. But DC power supplies have better W/$ ratio and have better battery time as there is no DCtoAC conversion.
