SN850 Thermal Pad Placement

Hello!


First time poster here looking for some help if possible.

was looking at sth review of the sn850 and got
to the disassemble part of it, I noticed the thermal pads don’t cover the whole ssd. I purchased a cheaper generic heatsink to save a couple quid, would I be best copying the thermal pad placement from the disassembly or add a longer pad?


Any idea why the pads aren’t the same on both sides?

i can't see the picture at the moment, but the biggest thing that needs cooling is the controller chip (second chip next to the interface pins, the first chip is DRAM).

the flash nand is typically able to handle higher temps, but cooling them is fine too.
