They are more quiet than I would have expected. Better than or on par with the recent SM x10 servers I have picked up, much quieter than an older HP 6600-24G-4XG 10G switch, and on par with Juniper EX3300's.

In my office with a base of 20-25dB they peak on at 65dB for a second or 2 with the fans at full speed and then when the fans drop to about half speed it gets down to around 50-52dB when 6" from the back of the switch. Only about 2dB difference with one or both PSUs running.
I got 2 from an earlier auction and spinning up the 2nd switch next to it they idle at about 58dB together with both PSU's running in both switches.

Thanks. I didn't know how loud a Gnodal was until I got one. It's by far the loudest piece of gear in my rack.

When you open them up you can tell where they were able to get so many from :)

Each of the 2 I ordered came with 2 bonus SFP+'s as well, and they were packed ans shipped quick.
Just wondering, did you happen to notice if it has a CF-card inside(or a CF-card slot)? If so, I think these might be capable of OpenFlow 1.0 using the opensource Indigo codebase. BCM56820 and Freescale 8541 are both supported in there.

That's what I was hunting for when I opened mine. No such luck.

Oh well. It does have U-boot on it and with 32mb, it is possible to push an openflow image, but it would have to mount some sort of external storage as well. I'll give it a look when my unit arrives.

That U-boot image may be useful for LB4M...

Got one of them, too. Had no luck - there were no (extra) transceivers in the package but that would have been too good to be true. Whats of more importance: the included rack ears differ from the ebay pictures. They aren't plane with the device-front (as seen on the pictures / known from other switches like LB4M), but have "extendension arms" which place/mount the device deeper into the rack. Do yours have the same?
(Could post an image of these weird reack ears if that helps. I am worried about the leverage of these "extensions arms" in my rack... Access to the ports could be difficult if there are other devices above and below.)

Other findings:
- loudness @idle: on par with LB4M (or a tiny bit louder)
- CLI very similar to the LB4M's
- unfortunately no WebUI (tested: v1.2.0.14 / Linux 2.6.21.7 and v1.0.0.13 / Linux 2.6.21.7)

So which SFP+s work in this switch & the INTEL NICS? Hopefully something from fiberstore cheap, or a cheap DAC, anyone have part#s on working combos they care to share? Any chance they could work in the LB6M, Intel NIC & CHELSIO?

And, did someone link to the manual if so I must have missed it ???

If it's like the LB4m, it's like Mikey, it'll eat anything.

No love on the manual. Sorry. I've even got a couple of insiders from companies that OEMd these things digging around their archives (both HP and Dell). Everything coming up empty so far.

They are agnostic about SFP+. Anything seems to work.

These will take care of the leverage problem. I'm using them on my LB4M.

Thanks for the hint! Always thought these universal things waste space!? So could a few of them be mounted one above the other without loosing place in beteween, below and above + place a switch in each of them?

Sorry to ask once more: do all of you got this type of rackmount ears?

If you can get anyone to take your offer @ $400 then yes - it would be a GREAT deal.
