Hello,

I would like to use the IPMI remote console and discrete graphics on Supermicro X11SAT-F motherboard simultaneously. The discrete graphics will be used normally while IPMI will come in handy for remote fixing. The Intel processor has support for IGFX and there is a Nvidia card in a PCIe slot too. The operating system is Gentoo Linux.

Is there a way to get X on the discrete graphics and bootup text message on IPMI Aspeed display?

The BIOS provides the following options. The default is Primary Display:pCIE and Primary PCIE Onboard.

You should be able to setup the bios to just use the internal/onboard display only and ignore your PCIe graphics card so that the console is on IPMI as expected and the VGA out (ot whatever) on the motherboard.
Then you tweak your Xorg conf files to just use the PCIe graphics card an ignore the onboard stuff.

If you install the Nvidia driver it should setup the xorg config files for you most of the way. If you avoid the noveau driver then the kernel shouldn't try and boot the Nvidia card as the console.
