These should be the same as the 800GB SanDisk Optimus Ascend. 3PAR just allows you to potentially use more storage instead of using using the spare nand for endurance.

How did you do the OP? Just format and leave spare area unpartitioned? Or is there a tool that can resize the drive?

I managed to work things out myself. For anyone wondering how to over-provision a SAS SSD you can use the sg3-utils package. The sg_format command has a resize option whereby you specify the number of blocks you want to short stroke the drive to.
