I have a Dell C6100 that I am looking to retire out of my OpenStack home lab. I am looking at putting in a replacement and I am thinking a Dell R820 might be the goto for this, anyone have thoughts to share?

The L5640's don't support AVX and the new software I need to run requires it + 2.4GHz min clock speed so I have to replace it.

All in all, it looks like the R820 will give me about the same performance at a lower operational cost than than the C6100 and I expect that the R820 will at least be no louder and hopefully somewhat quieter than the C6100.

I appreciate any input before I decide to buy. The systems on eBay seem to be reasonably priced for the R820 but I want something that will last me another 5 years in my home lab with out becoming unusable for today's software.
