I'm putting together a server for the lab/home office with a Supermicro X9DRI-F motherboard in an SC-216 case with a SAS216A backplane. I'm wondering what the best raid controller for use with my 12 Samsung SV843 and PM853T SSDs would be. I intend to make this a Hyper-V host for running a bunch of low impact VMs along with a bunch lot of read-heavy applications. I don't want to bottleneck the SSDs too badly but don't want to spend thousands on controllers either. Additionally I have some other SSDs like the Seagate 600 Pro and Intel 320's in this case too so ideally I'd like to be able to connect up all 24 hotswap bays. Sorry for the rambling post. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Do you need hardware RAID? If not, I'd suggest a PCIe HBA like the 9300-8i or 3 of them. Will still be under $1k to connect all and get full bandwidth from the drives.

Do the HBA's have the same issues people keep running into with LSI and Samsung drives? Also does the 9300 series support TRIM yet?
