No OS, but I figure that there is a pretty good chance there is a code in the BIOS.
Feels like a pretty good price for a scalable workstation.
More than 10 available.
8 more as of Monday AM:
ALL GONE as of 1/23/23 8 PM Eastern

The 5820 will support 1st and 2nd gen scalable.

  • Intel Xeon Platinum 81xx processors
  • Intel Xeon Gold 51xx processors
  • Intel Xeon Gold 61xx processors
  • Intel Xeon Silver 41xx processors
  • Intel Xeon Gold 52xx processors
  • Intel Xeon Silver 42xx processors
  • Intel Xeon Bronze 32xx processors
  • Intel Xeon Platinum 82xx processors
  • Intel Xeon Gold 62xx processors

Same seller has some 7210 units that also look well priced, $180 for a V3/V4 unit:
Dell Precision 7810 x2 Xeon E5-2620 v3 32GB 500GB HDD + x2 256GB SSD BTO *NO OS*

Wait, are you posting about the 7820 (which does support 1st and 2nd gen scalable) or are you posting about the 5820, which IIRC only supports Xeon W-2100 and 2200 series workstation processors?

Title was wrong, it is a 7820.

Its funny why anyone these days still put ps/2 keyboard/mouse connectors on anything - I wonder if dell bought a trillion of them when they were still used by real people and have just decided that until the stock is out, they must be put on all motherboards so they can recuperate the cost :-D

Its as boring as ps2 connectors still being a demand from parts of the purchasing side.
so much ps2 kvm hardware still in use.

Workstations with ps2 and laptops with serial are requirements that are still around in bids/contracts.

those T7820's are nice, but i dislike how expensive the cpu's still are. (especially ones with AVX512)
also no support for offroad xeon's (like the plat 8124M)

I think serious gamers might like ps/2 keyboards becuase they do a true interrupt for keypresses, unlike USB which uses polling.

I may be wrong i'm just regugitating something half-remembered.

there's more of them

bid

buy now (349)

I'm like 90% sure there's only 1 cpu inside tho.
The case, and mobo only have space for single cpu; not sure what the x2 means. (unless they stack it on top of each other.) ~ if thats the case pictures please once you get it.

Yea, those are the heavily used ones. The first listing was described as slightly used.
I sure hope that X2 means two cpus because that's how I understood the listing.

I'll post pictures as soon as I get mine. If anyone wants me to run some benchmarks or something more specific while I have it on the bench, please let me know.

well since the system does support dual proc - I'd say a discount would be forthcoming. I do see where you are coming from if you look at the owner's manual quickly.

However I watched this video. very clever use of space and design.

edit - btw, I picked up three last night (1 for me, 1 for a friend, 1 spare), and a big thank you to @gregsachs ! Already having shipping information.

edit - the installation of the second cpu carrier is shown in the video towards the end of the video at 3:39. this also explains the "interesting" connector you see in the owner's manual - item 18.

The dell configurator allows dual cpu. Possibly there are two different motherboards?
We will see
Edit: watched the video.
Wow, that is magic!
I got one for the wife, have no need for another but....

What are you all using these for?

Very tempted to grab one for proxmox VMs but seems like overkill, hah...
