Does anyone know if I can use the c6100 power supply which 1100watt with c6220?

I can't seem to confirm the right power supply for a c6220. The one I purchased came with 1400watt but it required 200-240v. I looked at the manual and found that the 1200watt required 120v so I would be able to use it at the datacenter I'm moving into.

Closest I found was this (Dell Power Supply 1200WHL 1000WLL for Dell Cloudedge C6000 P N 27W3W | eBay) but I am not 100 percent sure as it mentions c6000 which I'm assuming is a general term. Problem is, does that mean this PS will work with the c6220 or c6100 as well?

I also checked the dell website (Power Supplies : Computer Chassis & Components : Parts & Upgrades | Dell) but no mention or link to the 1200 watt product. The interesting thing though is that it looks like the 1400 watt can be used on all the c6000 models including c6100 and c6220.

I didn't realize it would be this obscure. Might anyone have a hint?

Now I can't move forward on testing the hardware until I have a PS that actually starts up my c6220.

I am in the exact same boat with my 6220. Did you find out whether that PS on ebay would work??? This thing is just an expensive paperweight right now. My fault for not checking specs I guess.

Mine is a paper weight as well. Sad as I bought 4 CPUs for it. Anyway, I don't think that PS will work. But I believe I found the right one. (PS-2112-5D DELL POWER SUPPLY 1200W 80 PLUS PLATINUM HOT PLUG FOR DELL) but it is a bit spendy as you can see.

I have the c6100's PS arriving tomorrow and I will try it out. I think they will work but you probably won't be able to fully load with the highend CPUs. I don't intend to so I think I should be good. But to be honest I prefer to use the right one even if this one might work. Its this uneasy feeling at the pit of my stomach at the end of the day.

Yup, I would have to agree, but still interested to see if this works. I think in most cases 1100W is more than enough power when working with haswell based cpus.

Hanss,

I'm not that DYI enough to attempt something like that.

Spiffster,

I have been testing with the c6100 powersupplies and it seems to work fine. I think it should be good enough. Now whether to sell the old PS or not. I haven't really fully tested it though as I don't have enough cpus for it but I think it should be good enough for what I'm doing.

Thats great! Thanks for the update. I think this will work for my application as well. I will be running 6 procs total with a max TDP of 95w along with SSD drives, so power draw should be ok.

UPDATE: I ordered two of the 1100W PSU and I can also confirm that they appear to work just fine. I will probably be selling the 1400W ones on eBay.
