Few more weeks I am sure it will be close to normal expected price.
See a few of the more useful parts arrive in the retail channel as well.

I'm not sure $400-ish for the mATX board is that surprising or troubling. With 12 SATA3 (no HBA required even for substantial disk), 10Gbe NIC embedded (no NIC card required) and on-board x4 m.2 NVME (fast disk for OS/Apps) its an amazing package. When you consider the cost of the board don't overlook the value of the things you don't have to buy to make a powerful server out of it.

I'm with @PigLover

Add a Xeon Silver 4108 when they're out and it's like a $817 8C/ 16T package. You'll have higher power than Xeon D but about the same purchase price and way more expandability RAM, SATA, PCIe, and such.

Oops I had in mind the wrong price for the older
10g version x10srm

192gb with 32gb dimms is a really nice memory config for those systems though.

Still has 12 volt support as well.

that does sound nice for the price. too bad ddr4 priccs are still out of my funland fund.
