Here is the latest scoop with the Dell H810 8 external port dual core 2208 controller:

Firmware - 21.2.0-0007,A04 Release Date: 4/29/2013 (Latest Version)
Driver - 5.2.220.64, A02 Release Date: 4/23/2013 (Latest Version) The driver listed is for Windows.
MSM - 13.04.03.01 Release Date: 4/30/13 (Latest Version)

I carefully cut the traces coming off of pins 5 and 6 (eliminates taping) allows use in systems other than Dell.
I jumped both external outputs to both external connectors on a Chenbro 36 port expander (gives me 24 ports/dual linked)
You get configured drive spindown, but no JBOD and only CacheCade version 1.1 with this card.

CacheCade 1.1 is a Dell thng, I don't think they wanted to pay for the V2 license
JBOD by passes the RAID HW (ie no caching), not sure why Dell didn't go for this as it's in the LSI FW, but by default it's disabled

Pin 5/6 trick doesn't work on the Intel SAS2308 based controller :(

BigXOR did that really work cutting the pins? Good if it does.

Oh and what's the diff between CC 1.1 and 2?

Be careful, don't cut to deep as this is a multilayer board and you will kill the card.

If you feel uncomfortable cutting, then either tape over the pins or paint them with fingernail polish.
