Saw this link with some interesting information: Modifying a DPC3010 for performance - USB JTAG

It seems like a bit of modding left that gentleman with a significant boost in performance. Has anyone tried this before?

It also let me to the following youtube:

be careful - cable companies see this kind of crap and get all sketchy because they may misunderstand that you may be modding firmware (JTAG). I had to deal with a case like this many moons ago. They ended up filing charges against the guy for dmca/modding firmware. Dummy left the firmware mods on the webhost so they had evidence. Even if the intentions are good and simple, they felt it was a threat since the firmware modifications could have been used to clone or remove speed caps.

There is zero use for jtag if you are just modifying power supply.

Be careful is all i'm saying.

Skimming the linked post, I dont believe he did anything to firmware, just better filters on the power supplies and network topology.

yeah you are right, but they still get iffy when you start modding gear on their network. just telling you how they roll. I managed the webserver for personal users. Any sort of modding of gear on their network (CMTS) was considered hostile . Perhaps this has changed but be careful posting this stuff.

We were switzerland (outsourced hosting company) but I still had to comply with pulling backups to fill warrants. Crazy town stuff like wife hacked ex-husband account and posted porn or defaced webpage, lol. And cable modem hackers. It wasn't always clear cut abuse. As i said I was switzerland - We just did what the (cable) man told us.

And he has the premium network cables!

I guess the intentions are good, though everything separated seems unnecessary complex and not necessarily faster. It's all software and vyatta can crank out the pps without breaking a sweat too.

He states he is an EE, that made everything make more sense.
