Hi everyone,

I'm really interested in this machine but unsure if vPro is offered across all CPU choices (i9-13900H, i9-12900H and i5-12450H)? Can someone comment on that? I see it listed for both i9 on ark (links below) but not for the i5 ...

Thank you very much!

i don't think you have vpro on i5-12450H.
It's definitely on the others.

Today i received a lsi 9300-8e. I wanted to flash it but was unable to launch uefi shell from bios menu: the windows closes immediately.
I managed to flash it with sas3fllash in a terminal window on unraid.
Does someone have succeded in using uefi shell ?

edit from the minisforum website: As i understand no vpro with i5

Hello,

It seems that the i5 version does not support vPro, as per the resources you linked, and as per Minisforum own website - which only mentions vPro support for the two i9 versions only (its near the bottom of the page in the specifications).

Not that I disagree given it there are two Thunderbolt 4 port that can be put to good use.

Found this dual NVME RAID on Amazon. Not too bad. Anybody has opinion on this using it with TrueNAS or better compact options? One my OCW is rather big in size.

Quick note, that if this is a USB3.2 GEN2x2 @20Gbps hardware, you may have surprises in term of actual support. I think - but that would need some double-checking - that while "USB4 40Gbps" implies support of "USB4 20Gbps", the spec has made the "USB3.2 GEN2x2" support optional. So you may see this one running only at USB 3.2 Gen2 @10Gbps unless Minisforum chosen USB4 chipset and implementation explicitly supports USB3.2 GEN2x2 20Gbps. Again all of that with a grain of salt.

Yes. It is toasty.
the card gets toasty i guess? the drives I have in it seem fine, no hotter than two m.2 installed on-board. the u.2 I have in there draws more power and is hotter as seen in these temps. note these drives are seeing a constant workload and I'm not seeing any problems so far. 4x4TB m.2 and 7.68TB u.2

Then maybe this particular card is fine! Need to recheck ones i still use, but since it's based on the same PLX chip bet power draw is similiar.
Not sure why you're referring to ASMedia ASM2812 PCI switch with PLX (now Broadcom), they are two very different vendors?

So in your case, is the ASM2812 controller getting super hot or speaking more broadly good idea to put this passively cooled card inside, realizing its heat sink will be sitting opposite to breathing holes on MS01 case?

Oh boy, what a difference liquid metal can make in temperature. Absolutely amazing results

Like to thanks @wadup for taking the first stab and bringing it to our attention.

Stock thermal paste is beyond horrible, flaky and falling apart cracked wall paint and must be replaced right away with a good quality thermal paste at the very least, if not LM.

Question for BIOS power users, is it possible to limit default turbo frequency from 5.4GHz to say 4GHz?

Second, there are only two physical fan installed but on BIOS I see configuration of three fans, is the last one redundant or is there any hidden fan header I missed on the board?

I have some more info of my Hypervisor adventures in the MS-01... as it appears there is no way i can pass through neither an nvidia GT730 that i had from an old pc. It appears correctly in the esxi, but i get always error 43 in the nvidia driver also.
I had tried all the esxi versions from 6.7 till 8.0U2b.
It appears that something is not right in the firmware and what it presents to esxi this motherboard. I am not new to this passthrough of a gpu to a vm because i do it more than 8-9 years in various desktop motherboards from Intel & Amd.

So i roll back to proxmox and even if i dont like it, i call it a day for now....
