Reposting this outside of the massive brocade thread.

Just plugged a Mikrotik S+RJ10 into one of my 7250's and it's not wanting to play.
The 7250 is running 08.0.95.

No lights on the sfp+ cage, no traffic. The other end (QNAP nas) does show a 10Gb link.

SSH@core#show media ethe 2/2/5

trying to set link speed manually and I get:

SSH@core(config-if-e10000-2/2/7)#speed-duplex 10g-full
ERROR: 2/2/7: optics <-> speed mismatch. Replace with SFP+ to enable link.

that and the output from show media above kinda looks like the 7250 thinks it's a sfp module...

any ideas?

Thanks for the reply.
Qnap is 10gb. The S+RJ10 is version 2.16, see above.

What type and length of cable are you using and have you tried using a different cable. It appears that they do not support manual link speed setting and must be set to auto-negotiate but as you say everything looks as though it is seeing an SFP module not SFP+.

Tried various cables all short, a foot or so. 6e and a couple of 5e’s.
As far as I can see, there seems to be a link from the qnap to the module, but not from the module to the switch.
I was wondering if there is some port setting that needs to be set…

This is a known issue, it has been written about in the huge brocade thread multiple times, only fix is to replace either the transceiver or the switch (the 6450 doesn't have this issue eg.).

If you search for S+RJ10 or mikrotik you should get a couple of hits on the first few search pages.

I had the same issue, upgraded my 6450 to a 7250, had to replace the transceiver, FS.com transceivers works perfect, probably because they aren't Nbase.

Yep. I just searched again and found the posts. No idea what I was doing last week…
I’ll try and return the mikrotik and give up unless I find a AQS-107-B0C2-CX SFP at a reasonable price.
I have a intel 520 in the qnap and have been using that with a lag across 2 7250’s. About 2 weeks ago the nas went bang and qnap replaced it with a newer model with a onboard 10gbe nic, the previous had 5ge which I didn’t use. I did think I’d dump the intel 520 and make use of the onboard to save a bit of power but for the sake of a few watts I’d rather have the current lag setup.
thanks everyone for your help.

Does this hit the whole 7x50 line?
