That's odd, it's a pretty big platform,so I am sure they would be aware if it is widespread.

Off topic.

The beauty with Micron enterprise drives, is unlike Samsung which hides their firmware and only provides to vendors it appears, Micron SSDs are simple to update their firmware. Just follow the steps on their website, also have a Windows GUI app if you're lazy.

I updated them via USB to SATA adapter. Didn't even matter that they are EOL, firmware update went easy - as it should be...

Well, their registration process is still broken (it never sends a registration confirmation email)

I suspect those come from servers where the whole rack has been retired as out of warranty. For many application the cost of the server is fairly immaterial compared to what is running on it, so the IT department may want to CYA with vendor support and retire what is not supported. Or perhaps a necessary upgrade.

Warning - unreliable seller

I talked to the seller, bought 5, payed, and ~ a week later got a partial payback. I assume he cancelled on his side ( I have to figure out why I didn't get all of my money back)

Things got sorted, drives were OK

Did you use the buyer protection via Kleinanzeigen? You only don't get the shipping refunded I think.

I did, but it doesn't include shipping and buyer protection cost.
The seller did get back to me after I posted here, saying the cancellation was a mistake on his side and he potentially has more drives, so maybe this will get sorted... to be continued.

Update: Seller had more drives, ended up buying 10 drives. Tested the drives and everything was as advertised. All good in the end :D

Not sure if its not the same, the Kleinanzeigen seller had some located in FFM too and its close to his home location. Prolly has a bunch of the drives in a DC.
But thats an assumption o/c, so don't take it for granted;)
