Any chance these will work in Ethernet mode? live got a hyper converged cluster that needs a low port count switch for the back end. its using connects-3 cards in Ethernet mode.

Nada, IS5022's are IB only.

That's what I thought. Do they make a model that would work in ethernet mode? I need something I can configure qos and flow control on. 4 ports would be enough but I doubt anyone makes something that small.

All switchx-2 based infiniband switches can also do ethernet switching but require the "ethernet gateway" license. For the 12 port infiniband switch sx6012 that license costs over $3,000.

Mellanox also has an Ethernet based line of switches, eg SX1012 which is probably the sme only with activated EN functionality - about the same price point though :/

I think you won't find anything reasonable priced from mellanox.
There are currently some Gnodal on auction from UK that could fit (18 Ports). Don't know about features like qos / flow control but can imagine they are present. If noise/power consumption is not a big issue these could fit and give some extra-ports.

Thanks for the suggestions. The gnodal looks promising, the price isn't too high and I have a feeling it runs cisco ios or something similar. Those mellanox switches are ridiculous, they are expensive even on ebay!
