Hey all. I've been trolling around ebay looking for a deal on a cheap R710 and came across a deal on an older model McAfee WG5500 (specs: http://www.infomach.com.br/datasheet/ds_web_gateway_spec.pdf ).

I picked it up since the parts are easily worth what I paid, but I was wondering if it was possible to revert this to stock dell bios similar to how people revert google search appliances?

I purchased 2x R610 McAffee and flashed Dell bios using the -forcetype command line option. Worked like a charm. I doubt you'll have any issues on the R710

I had an emc r710. The way I did it was to flash my way up using the oem ready bios up (upgrading from each major .x version to the next) to 6.3 and then force type the regular 6.3 bios for r710 and then upgrade to 6.4

If I did not do this I had all sorts of issues.
