Hi,
so i am currently building a new homeserver (1x xeon silver 4108 and SM X11DPI-NT) but not sure if i need a lga 3647 narrow or square cooler.
My case is a 4u Intertech case with two "normal" 120mm 1200rpm fans in the front (no high airflow server fans)
Any recommendations for the cooler?
it is just a 85w tdp cpu can i get away with a passive cpu cooler without its own fan, despite not having a high airflow case?
(i saw some of the noctua coolers but i dont really want to spend 100€+ just for the cooler if possible)
thx

i do not like Noctua's because the mounting brackets are just bent metal sheets, the square is most badly.
i recommend the SNK-P0070APS4 too( or the90degree rotated SNK-P0071APS4 )
a bit cheaper but 60mm FAN=louder, SNK-P0068APS4
edit:
check also aliexpress & co for cheaper alternatives ( same factory but cheaper )

I recently used a few Dynatron B11 3U ($39 each) and they work fine, although they are harder to install and much noiser (but still reasonably quiet in low TDP setups) than Noctua.

Dynatron B11
Dynatrons ar not my favorite because they use direct touch heat pipes which are placed wrong position (not under the DIE)
and the washer under screw 3&4 is not that light turnable than supermicros, Noctua's washer are bad too.

Yup, Dynatrons blow chunks but the sure are purdy. They may be good for low power beginner CPU's but they can't hold a candle to Supermicro coolers when it comes to cooling high end CPU's.
