Google your machine part number and psref

Check which version of windows 10 it shipped with perhaps it was win10 home?

Yep, says it has " Windows 10 IoT Enterprise 64 ". Googling .... says I need to have an IOT account just to DL the IOT ISO ....
Anyone have experience with this? Does the IOT license on my device then NOT work with regular windows 10?

Anybody tried running "F" cpu inside M720q?

I'll propably score another M720q for 80€, however it has G5400T ... it might be sufficient but I may rather find a 4-core CPU ... the cheapest I can find is obviously i3 9100F ... I run an RX 6400 in my first M720q so I may as well use the "F" cpu there ...

Will it work fine? I mean it propably should since there is a dGPU ... but I am asking just in case. Thanks!

Hmm if it came from Lenovo with W10 IoT installed you should be able to create a USB key installer from the Lenovo product page.

What is the part number for your Lenovo?

I have a few 720q so I will give it a shot, based on the compatibility list I am not super hopeful though.

Looks like you can buy directly from Lenovo's site if your country is set to the UK.
PN: 5C50W00908

Unfortunately it doesn't look like they ship to the US from the UK site. From searching a bit more it looks like there is generally just more availability for this part from European vendors than those in NA.

Also based on the product lookup there is a V2 of this card that exists with the PN 5C50W00942. No pictures on the Lenovo site, so not sure if there are any meaningful differences. Looks to still be 2.5GbE so no improvement's to on that front. I cant seem to find it anywhere at a reasonable price unfortunately, so will probably ignore it for now.
Hi, did you manage to try it?

All - Has anyone have any experience with the following with updating network/m.2 wifi/bluetooth cards.

Putting a AX210NGW or AX211NGW in a m920qq or m715q gen2?

I already have the m920q, and came across a deal for the m715q gen2 (for cheap). The m715q gen2 needs antenna, so was wondering since already need order some parts for it.

Correct, later Tinys come with three SKUs for the motherboard - no Windows license, Windows IoT, or Windows Pro. It's in the first post, but maybe not sufficiently emphasised?

Thanks @Parallax ! I did see something about that under the upgrade M90q not the 920. I have the older 920, so would have guessed win pro. The bigger issue was I didn't know the restriction around win IOT, that I needed an account just to DL win IOT, I figured you just created a windows usb like normal, then the install windows would read the IOT off the motherboard and activate win iot. I didn't realize you needed different install medium from winIOT than win pro, so, all my bad.

Lenngth and height defintely work out, length is slightly less tall then the XFXF speedster RX 6400 i got in my p350 TINY, just that thickness is liek 3mm more, since I have no access to my p350 as I have at at work, It may end up not fitting heightwise with the cover on.

Hello,

I'm facing a very strange problem with one M920q that's part of a 3-node Proxmox cluster. The physical hardware of the 3 nodes is as follows:

Node 1Node 2Node 3
CPU: i5-8500T
RAM: 64 GB RAM (2x32 GB 2666Mhz Micron)
Storage: Samsung PM981a 250GB NVMe
Extra Network: AOC-STGN-i2S
CPU: i5-8600T
RAM: 64 GB RAM (2x32 GB 2666Mhz Micron)
Storage: Samsung 980 250GB NVMe
Extra Network: AOC-STGN-i2S
CPU: i5-8600T
RAM: 64 GB RAM (2x32 GB 2666Mhz Micron)
Storage: Samsung PM981a 250GB NVMe
Extra Network: AOC-STGN-i2S

The issue I'm having is with Node 2 in the above setup. I'm trying to upgrade the cluster from Proxmox 7 to Proxmox 8 and started with Node 3. Upgrading Node 3 completed successfully, but when I was trying to upgrade Node 2 it abruptly shut down about mid-way through the upgrade resulting in a broken OS.

I reinstalled & reconfigured Proxmox 7 on this node and tried the upgrade again, with the exact same result. I've now tried the following approaches:

  • Install Debian 12 and then Proxmox 8 over PXE Boot (netboot.xyz)
    • Result: Machine shuts off when installing kernel package
  • Install Proxmox 8 from ISO (Ventoy disk)
    • Result: Machine shuts off when installing pve-firmware package
  • Install Proxmox 8 directly from PXE Boot (netboot.xyz)
    • Result: Machine shuts off (Could not see which package was being installed)
  • Install Debian 11 and then Proxmox 7 over PXE boot (netboot.xyz)
    • Result: Machine boots up normally with the Proxmox OS.
  • Install opt-in 6.2 Kernel for Proxmox 7
    • Result: Kernel install succeeds but any attempt to boot with the 6.2 kernel causes the machine to shut down early in the boot process. Could not find any messages in the logs.
The BIOS and NVMe firmware on Node 2 have been updated to the latest available versions but that does not seem to have helped. I've used the UEFI Diagnostics on Node 2 to check the Motherboard, CPU and also run a NVMe self-test all of which passed.

Given that the only difference between Node 2 and Node 3 is the NVMe disk, I did search online for any reports of issues with this drive and the 6.2 kernel but did not find anything.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can try next?

It's not a very exciting suggestion, but you could try clearing/resetting the BIOS. Next step would be swapping the drive, given 250GB NVMe drives are basically being given away free in cereal packets nowadays. Also check your PCIe card and riser are properly seated. Run a RAM check.

My external 3.5" USB HDD started malfunctioning and I hope it's the enclosure at fault, so I need to test the drive by connecting it directly. I have a PCIe SATA card but need 5V and 12V to connect the power to the drive. Is there any reliable source of 12v inside the cage I can use?

I don't have any other PC handy at the moment so need to get by with using my p340 tiny for that.
