I'm thinking of getting m70q gen3 with G7400T and I want to use this primarily as download rig and plex server nothing else.

My questions are :-
1. What is the power consumption of entire unit as it has tdp of 35w but what's the usual power consumption in mostly jdle condition for 24x7.

2. Since this device would be used headless with Ubuntu server how loud is the fan as I would be keeping in bedroom would the noise be too much while at bed?

Would you suggest buying a M910q tiny with i5 7500t? Does it support AMT?
It is quite cheap, but doesn't have 2* M.2 nor PCI-E Slot for 10G card.

Why it's a 8th gen? And it's almost very difficult to find in here also assuming g7400t is 12th gen it should be more power efficient. Also I'm not keen on more than 2.5 gbe . Also this is going to be always in same network so amt is not needed

I'm running two P360 Tiny's with Supermicro AOC-STGN-i2S NICs on x16 risers without issue, FWIW. With 3D printed baffles thanks to this thread.

I just got my M90q Tiny Gen 3 (P360) and my Supermicro AOC-STGN-i2S is on order. Right now the x16 riser card ( 5C50W00910 ) is over 80 USD on amazon or eBay. On the other hand the x4 riser card ( 5C50W00909 ) seems to be only 40 USD, so I'm wondering, if this card will work as well. Or are there any reasons to favor the x16 riser card anyway, even if the x4 riser did work?

Another question: For Windows 10 or 11 Pro can I use Intel's vanilla 82599ES drivers from here or do I need a special Supermicro driver?

Any info on which brand ssd does Lenovo uses in it m90q gen3 I ordered 256gb gen4 2280 model does it has heating issues?

My M90q Tiny Gen 3 (which just arrive two days ago) came with a Micron MTFDKBA256TFK SSD. The hottest it got was 71 degrees Celsius, when I created a TrueCrypt partition. That doesn't seem so bad. I haven't run any other heavy loads on it though.

I suppose though they put in whatever brand they can source at any given time for the best price from their approved vendors, so no guarantee that you wouldn't get a different brand.

I haven't tracked a noise to load correlation yet, but when I initially go the unit and ran the various Win 11 updates (including from 21H2 to 22H2) the fans got quite loud. Nothing I'd like to have in my bedroom. Even in my home office I found it bothersome. At idle the fans are running, but in the office room I don't hear it because of other ambient noises. Maybe I'll pay around with a tool to set a fan curve one of these days.

I got this version: ThinkCentre M90q Gen 3 | Intel-powered Tiny Desktop PC

Specs are i5-12500T, 8GB RAM, 256 GB SSD.

Just took a look at the M70q gen 3. It might be overkill for a pure download machine, but then again you might have additional use cases in the future.

There's some discussion of this on the previous page in relation to earlier models and risers and I made some notes in the original post accordingly. We don't have enough information for the Gen 3 stuff to make any real recommendations except to say that older PCIe cards (like the popular I350-T4) may or may not work with either riser - the PCIe 4.0 slot that's the Gen 3 seems to have issues with some PCIe 2.0/2.1 generation cards.

Apart from that, the risers are more or less what they say they are, a choice between x4 bandwidth and "x16" (which is actually x8) so it depends on what you need from the card. For graphics cards the "x16" may be beneficial, but for 95+% of cases the x4 should be sufficient (and remember PCIe 4.0 has twice the bandwidth per lane of PCIe 3.0 anyway). That said, always worth having a look for the part number on Taobao via someone like Superbuy in case there's a deal to be had - I bought my P350 Tiny risers that way.

There was a header for the card on the motherboard in previous iterations, I've not checked on the P350. Could you confirm that the official Lenovo Thunderbolt card comes with the necessary cables to use the header? It's an open question in the first post since I'd never sighted the official FRU.

I do wish I could find a decent 4x2.5gbe or 2x2.5 for to use with these. Preferably i225/i226. I’ve been running X540 10Gbe in them but am having trouble with the 10Gbe card overheating and dropping out. Seems to be a bit much for the lack of airflow. Don’t really need the 10gbe, but 1gbe is just a bit slow.

I found the entire set on eBay - there seem to be two FRUs one for the card and cable but everything came with mine. There are two cables that fit two headers on the mb. One's a GPIO and the other says DP on it - maybe some kind of DP passthrough`/

I have two of the x16 risers and neither seem to work. The P320 era one won't even let the PC boot. The P350 x16 riser boots and sees the card but won't see any devices plugged into it. So I think I need to try a x4 riser next to confirm out what others have said was the case.
