To be honest, I feel like 502W is totally fine but I know that Dell has system checks in place for the X5650 where if you're not using the 717W CPU in the PowerEdge R610 it doesn't even let you boot past the POST screens and says performance is "degraded"(pfft).

I've seen some sellers one ebay selling their configs with 502W CPUs and dual L5640s so I'm assuming it'll be alright.

Can anyone confirm?

I cant imagine it wouldn't be -- the L5640 is 60W -- all other CPU combos in the R610 would be that or higher, not lower

I was able to confirm a day or so ago, 502W PSUs work just fine with these chips.

I was told that the 502W PS was fine as long as there was less than 64GB of memory installed. Not sure if that is hardcoded or if it depends on other hardware (drives, cards, etc).
