Which buyer did you get yours from?I tested an HGST TravelStar z7k500 attached to the HBA. Not a thorough test by any means, but a quick Atto test yields expected "direct access" results ..
Still not convinced ?

If you want a workstation, dell t5600 or t7600 barebones. Servers I have not come across many good deals for barebones lately. I like supermicro boards but you need to be sure to get the right HSF for them, some use narrow ilm and some are standard. What is a good and cheap motherboard or barebones for this? Single and dual socket.
I grabbed an open box SuperMicro X9DRD-if for $262 off Newegg, but it looks like they're currently out. I couldn't find a better deal on a board. What is a good and cheap motherboard or barebones for this? Single and dual socket.
Those are the same stepping as I got from the same seller. They have a VT-d bug and don't officially support it but so far mine have worked perfectly (passing both HDD and NICs through).Just saw this one (different stepping) for $139.99 + a bit of shipping: Intel Xeon Sr0H8 E5-2670 8 Core 2.60 Ghz 20M Cache No BO.
It's called the dell c6220It would be really cool if a motherboard vendor had a M/B that could be used with this CPU, which could be used in a C6100.
It would make a cool upgrade option for all those C6100s out there.
So, would a C6220 motherboard fit in a C6100?It's called the dell c6220
