I tried to update the BIOS to version F14 but it failed. BMC informed that the BIOS is apparently updated but version F06 is still displayed.
Previously I had ECC memory. And now I inserted the 8GB stick HMA81GU6CJR8N-VK and 8GB stick m378a1g43db0-cpb. Maybe it's a matter of clocks, but I think it should start check it.

I was able to update the BMC/BIOS via IPMI with only a 4650GE.
In case anyone else has this issue, I was able to update first the BMC, and then the bios via IPMI with only an APU (4650GE on hand).
Steps:
1. Update the BMC via IMPI web ui.
2. Install the CPU and a DIMM into slot A1 (without doing this you will get the "Failed due to update fail" warning)
3. Now update the bios (I used F13) and everything will work out fine.
I originally thought I was going to have to manually flash the bios, but its 1.8V and my dediprog only does 3.3V, so glad this worked.

Is there any way of running a 10gb nic and for example 2x nvme drives in RAID1 with this motherboard?
10gb NIC in the x4 slot (MCX311A here)
Then bifurcate the x16 slot for your NVME's.
Much earlier in this thread a x4x4x8 adapter is linked which works great.

As you mention youself, with a 4x4x8 (or 4x4x4x4) adaptor you can get some nvme running at full speed, and by doing so free up the internal slot for an sata adaptor, where the speed of lanes are less important

Yes you're right that is a good option, I think I have one as well. My intention was to pass through a SATA controller to a TrueNAS VM for zfs, but if not I will utilise the proxmox cli.
I use a 4x4x8 for nvme mirror for proxmox and the 8x slot for an HBA passed through to TrueNAS, but depending on drive numbers the NVME to sata solution is better for lower power

Hey, worth it buy nowadays? i am looking for change for my SuperMicro X9SRI. for some more power, efficient and less power hungry solution.
AMD is far away from being low power. 5700X - 200W peak consumption, 5950X - 300W peak consumption (full load). Maybe some lower models.
