Gigabyte and Samsung DDR5 RDIMM "old Dram vendor detected"

we have encountered a incompatibility between Gigabyte MS03/MS33/MS73(possible many others)
with Samsung DDR5 RDIMM part# M321R4GA3BB0-CQK
M321R4GA3BB6-CQK will work.
i have contacted gigabyte support and got this answer:

Both IPMI reports uncorrectable, bios also reads "Old Dram Vendor Detected"

Even though as Rollo mentioned R4 and R2s are on QVL...

the SPD provides dram vendor id. there are early bad dram chips,
afaik only gigabyte reject them.

buy other RAM than early (cheap) samsung.
other motherbaord manufacturers don't complain about the dram, but i doubt this message is just for fun.

e.g. 2213 is 2022 Week 13
edit: seems this is not valid for all DDR5
maybe the QR code has more info

i think we should pay more attention to the DRAM manuf. date rather than module date.

Ok, that means my DIMMs are very old (2020) so they probably would have problems with Gigabyte motherboards. Good to know since they work with Supermicro and Tyan boards just fine. Will have to be cautious from now on. OTOH i found DIMMS that refuse to work with both Tyan and Asus boards i have right now. It is Samsung - the same as the ones that do work - the only difference is RCD chip. The ones that do work have either Rambus or Montage RCD, the ones that refuse to work have IDT chip on them. The rest is absolutely the same - SDRAM, layout, everything. Except ones with IDT do not work Guess there's a reason we don't see them often.

I think Gigabyte manufacturers are doing the wrong thing. It is easier to abandon the purchase of these boards in favor of an alternative. This is a very bad example of trading in the market.

I think Gigabyte manufacturers are doing the wrong thing.

i doubt they reject the old DRAM just to annoy us.
there must be a good reason, maybe bug or some feature not supported.
