I think there's only one reason. RAM manufacturers do not quite agree with the policy of gigabytes and other manufacturers. Why create new memory when the market is full of old memory. There's nothing personal about it. You can find any reason, just not to take the old modules. Otherwise, production would be back on its feet.

i think you misunderstood.
this issue is only with early Samsung DRAM chips, not actual ones.

i found something weird

found only in RelNotes of these boards...
Gigabyte:
MS74-HB0 BIOS F12
MS04-CE0 BIOS F08
MA34-CP0 BIOS F06

Not sure why Gigabyte was affected, but same Samsung modules that it claims are not compatible worked perfectly fine in: Supermicro, ASRock WS, ASUS W790 ACE, Tyan Tempest. Soooo. I think there’s something special about Gigabyte and the way they handle these modules.

Got two Samsung M321R8GA0BB0-CQKZJ. One is working, the other one gives RAM Training Error on Asus W790-Sage and Supermicro X13SWA-TF. The DIMMs came from a working DELL Dell PowerEdge R7625, EPYC 9334.
Maybe they are ok for AMD but not for Intel.

why do you want that spec. BIOS F20 ?
That’s exactly why I’m interested in F20. I’d like to experiment with disabling cores and running the CPU in a 60-core configuration, similar to what you showed in your screenshots. It looks like F20 may provide the necessary options for that.

i never had MS34-CP0
where have you seens that ?
disabling cores works with a BitMap(0=all Enabled). don't think this is removed.

I saw the screenshots that were posted showing a MA34-CP0 running BIOS F20. That’s what made me think the system was using that motherboard.


My goal is to run the CPU in a 60-core configuration, so I was looking into BIOS F20 because I thought it might be related. Thanks for clarifying that core disabling is controlled through the BitMap setting.

I checked my BIOS, but I couldn’t find any BitMap or core-disable option. That’s why I became interested in BIOS F20 and Intel SST, hoping there might be additional controls available there.
