For sale are 3x PowerEdge R730 2U servers

Each server has 2 Xeon E5-2690v4 CPUs
Those are 14 core, 28 thread clocked at 2.6GHz

24 sticks of 32GB DDR4 ECC for 768GB of RAM in each server. 2400MHz RDIMMs (Samsung)

They have 8x 2.5" drive sleds

Doesn't come with drive sleds (only blanks) but you can still fit drives in there without them.

Asking $900 each or reasonable offers via Cash, Cashapp or Monero

Mainly interested in local pickup in Houston area. I don't have a server box but if you can send me one and maybe you have a deal on shipping labels we can work something out.

Just throwing it out there but you might want to check fleabay - R730 are hitting ewaste levels and around sub $300 each. *might check if they ram speed as 2666 or 3200 (highly doubt it) would be your real money. 32GB 2133 or 2400 are like $20 a stick or less now.

Believe it or not I've already sold one around this price. But yeah the RAM is the main thing that's valuable I'll drop the price and see if I get any bites. Do need to get rid of these things.

I agree, I can't tell you how much Dell gear just was ewasted out of the Datacenter I use. They had pallets of them....and so many cisco N9xxx 48port switches. Like...waaaaay more than I would have thought a client would put in a Datacenter.



Also, did you figure out the RAM speed? Might be worth updating you post.

I agree, I can't tell you how much Dell gear just was ewasted out of the Datacenter I use.

I talked with an employee at a local "strip your datacenter" company, and he said that one time they pulled several dozen servers that were still in the original boxes and had never been installed, but they had been opened to have company property tags applied. They were literally a 3rd tier of spare parts in case a server died...the company had hot spares running, plus one business day service from Dell, and the unopened boxes in case Dell took too long.

Oooof. Those aren't really worth that.
At all. Maybe 500 if you can sucker someone. But sff no caddies or rails. You're gonna have some difficulties moving them no matter the price. You might be able to move the ram separately and have an easy time but the actual servers are going to be a tough sell.

The market for second-hand configured servers is very weird. You could sell the 8SFF R730 with 64GB and the 2690v4's for $200 without much of an issue. You can also sell the 768GB for at least $750. But you put it together and, unless you are some kind of reputable seller or the go-to source for second-hand servers for some institution, you'll have difficulty selling it for the price of the ram.

This is what I'm finding out. May just quickly sell all of them barebones first then take my time with the ram, cpus and nics as they have a smaller footprint. But a fully built R740/R640 may be valuable you think? I have a few of those.
