Anyone looking to unload a SA120 in the bay area? Would like it to have at least 8 caddies and single I/O module is okay. Would prefer two PSUs per below. Thanks!

Try to get one with two PSUs so you don't have a mini jet running in your house. And you won't have to run the app to manage the fans either. They'll spin up/down on their own if you have two installed.

Thanks for the tip!

Anyone have one to sell locally?

No one has one to sell locally eh? I'll give it another day or two before I look on eBay and pay $50 shipping.

These used to go for right around $200 about 6 months ago. People started catching on and buying them up left and right. Now, you're lucky to find a new one under $250.

You are right. I went ahead and bought one on eBay for 250 + 50 shipping. I confirmed they come with all the hdd sleds so I consider that a not bad deal. I then bought the 800w gold psu that is supposed to be compatible as well.

I didn't know about the dual power supply/power management thing. Thanks for the info y'all, my SA120 apparently just arrived on my porch this morning!

I didn't either til I had to troubleshoot a blinking error code. I never had the second PSU plugged in; relying on the software to manage the fans. It was so annoying to lose those settings upon power off (and restart if I remember right). After I had both PSUs plugged in, the fans dropped in RPMs. And they will spin up based on ambient temperature.

What updates where you looking for? I am missing an internal SAS cable so I haven't turned on the system yet. I guess I can do the power supply fan noise test this weekend. Stay tuned.

Well, with the second PSU, the SA120 starts off extremely loud but goes silent. Nice!

Kick ass find on the PSU. I have 2 coming for my 2 SA120's. Was in the same boat as the other person above that thought they were more expensive and also had no idea that the fans behave better with 2 PSU.

Dual PSU doesn't make it any quieter for me. Tried with the 1007 firmware that came on the DAS and also upgraded it to the 1008. Still need to use the utility to get it down to the lowest fan speed...

What RAID controller are you using?

It's an LSI 9200-8e. Why would that have anything to do with it? The posts above only said putting in the redundant/dual PSU was necessary to make the fans spin down. I put in 2 of the 800W PSUs and it was still loud/did not slow the fans to the lowest speed. I'd say it was around the normal volume at around the 3 or 4 fan speed setting. FYI, with the fan speed set to 1, all the disks and the PSUs are currently sitting under 90 F, so there's no reason it shouldn't be able to throttle itself down to the lowest fan speed. Lol, Lenovo just sucks at fans.

To start a conversation and determine what's different between our setups. Everything in my setup came from Lenovo; starting from the hard drives to the RAID Controller. What about yours?
