These are VERY niche but maybe somebody is interested.
Picopartslap has a stack of TS42S-2U for 299€, compute only nodes with no front bays.

- Chassis/psus
- 4nodes with heatsinks and X527 mezzanine 2x sfp+
- Rail kit

Since these are hard to move units and they got 100+ id expect offers a fair bit below 299€ to be accepted also.

Tempted to try 150-170€/ea area for 3, since im leaning towards a seperate baremetal ceph stack for storage.

Shouldve checked shipping cost before posting.
This is more like scam than Great Deal.
Unless you live in DEU.

If its a high default for your country you just ask them for the real, for me in Norway its generaly 40-45€.

Id guess they did a boo boo on weight or size so it defaulted to pallet.

I normally just pm seller to correct it for Norway before ordering/paying if priced are messed up.
Often its just left at a high standard if they have not estimated correct one for the country also, so they are safe if you order without contacting them.

40kg should be a fully specced system with drives etc

Ive bought 4-5 diffrent 2U4N/2U2N model systems previously for messing around with before resale domesticly.
All from EU have been shipped at standard rates same as 1-2U servers in general around 40€.

Have not looked at bifurication support, would expect it to be supported for scalable nodes tho.

Their other account cp_hardware seems to be posting alot of them as 199€ auctions without bids on them.
So looks like atleast a drop to 199€ is possible.

for esxi7 it should work out of the box, for esxi8 the mezzanine nics would need upgrading.
Im considering 2 for esxi8, saw some supported 10/25gbe mezzanines around 30-40$.

Picked up some C6320 at 250£/ea not too long ago since scalable nodes in Europe still looked a bit steep.
Maybe demote those to just baremetal ceph for storage.

Good point! But I've seen versions of these with drive bays floating around ebay
I was digging through the documentation, hoping to find the backplane and cages to be add-ons but it doesn't seem that easy. But if eBay has storage nodes too, that makes for a neat box right there. Perhaps swap the NIC for a 40Gbps model and add a switch and you're essentially hosting a cloud in a box!

With bays its probably these from bargainhardware that is cheapest in Europe, 570£ with 24x sff trays for a unspecced box.

That these are the chassis without storage bays is why they are 199/299 rather than 600-1500.

The sas3 cards they use should be these, same as i bought to use in my C6320 boxes.
There is a version with external ports also, not sure if they can be found in the 5-10$ area tho.

So shelves or a bit more yolo storage can be added to it.

There has been a few sellers getting them recently, that listing even shows as free delivery for me to Norway.

Looks like they really want the last few units out the door.
But listing has "THIS WILL BE SHIPPED ON A PALLET" and that seller does not ship pallets outside UK, so no luck for me i guess.

Solid deal for those in the UK tho, by my experience with seller id expect them to accept a 150 offer even for a single unit.
