i'm about to get the e5-2630l v3 es but are they unlocked or can i overclock them ?
I wouldn’t overclock the ES cpu’s
Someone correct me if I’m wrong but they been stressed already to the max.
And we don’t know what kind of minerals /material they made of. The word is going out that there made out of cheaper materials. They were made for testing purposes only.
So I wouldn't risk it. And If you would max 104 blck

Has anyone tried to overclock ES cpu? how much BCLK do you guys recommend?
xeon E5 v3 can not be overclocked by BCLK.
Many other clocks are based on this BCLK, so memory/usb/sata/pciexpress will be crashing.
Just buy a different cpu with more Ghz.

from 1,8 to 2,4 Ghz is 600mhz, multi is 18, 600/18=33,3
you need BCLK 133mhz for that, absurd.

i never said i want to overclock the bclk i always leave it to the 100mhz
i meant the clock multipliers
the multipliers are locked.
what u need is a E5-2650v3 ES QEYN 10C, all cores at 2500mhz, single core turbo 2800mhz.

Does anyone know if the OEM/Retail E5-2683 V3's that are being sold as OEM/Retail are really remarked Stepping 1 (B stepping) ES processors?

Here is such a link that I was curious about considering it's relatively low price for a 14core/28thread Xeon clocked at 2.0Ghz:

Intel Xeon E5-2683 v3 OEM/Retail SR1XH LGA2011-3 Compatible X99 i7-5960X

Also since I will be using it in an X99 motherboard and seeing the price history should I hold off until later on to purchase this? The exchange rate makes it a bit more expensive.

On the subject of E5 2670 and E5 2690 V3 ES Xeon's I haven't seen any stepping 2 2690 V3's appear on eBay but the 2670 has B stepping (stepping 2) 2670 V3's. Any reason for that and is the 2670 V3 Stepping 2 / M0 a better purchase than a E5 2690 V3 Stepping 1 for X99?
not sure what u mean but the e5-2683 v3 latest stepping is c1

if the cpu-z screenshot is not a fake thats an OEM/Retail with stepping C0.
for ES there is a 1 as stepping value/revision empty showing in cpu-z

compare with screeshots in this Item
Intel Xeon SR1XH E5-2683 V3 CPU 2.0GHz 35M 9.6GT/s 14Core LGA2011-3 Processor

Hello Everyone!

I'm new here an so far I was only reading the comments here as these days engineering samples started to interest me because of the performance they provide at a much more affordable price than retail versions. However, reading the comments, espacially the last few, a tought crossed my mind. Ok, these CPUs are cheap, but if i have to buy another in a year
I started to even think about them as for my work I need some decent calculation power (mostly simulations), which means that the CPUs are constantly under stress (although not under Prime95 like). I have an i7-3770, runing almost like 24/7, no problems, but it is a retail one.
So my questions is, what are your experiences with the longevity of these samples?

Most ES v3 came out of OEM servers during update to broadwell-EP v4 cpu.
They ran 2 years, so no one can expect how long they will live.
Haswell-EP processors are build for stable reliable servers.
IMHO: if u take a NEW motherboard, with good cooling new capacitors of course, these ES will live long.
The ES v3 currently on the market are not stressed intel lab samples, the X99/C612 platform exists since more than 2 years.
Because Intel can't inhibit sell/reselling of ES, they are lower performance to not compete than OEM/retail.

The chip I ordered on 30-7 will arrive on 4-8
(E5 XEON 2698 V4 ES QHUZ)
I’ll post my finding this or next week, for the ones who are curious
