Not to derail this posting, but does anyone know if there are any other hidden gems in the 32 or less core packages like this? I'd love to pick up a Milan, especially if I could get a little more single core speed out of it. Maybe there is a listing of all of the cpu skus?

Just wanted to report a successful combination of 7B13 (from parts.cafe) and AsRockRack ROMED8-2T/BCM out of the box. Had some weird BIOS/IPMI issues but updating to the latest versions seemed to fix everything.
I already had this exact motherboard in order and found this thread when researching why this 7B13 chip seemed so relatively cheap on eBay ($1300 CAD ~ $1000 USD), and your report gave the confidence to go ahead try, so wish me luck!

If this relative performance to a 3995wx is accurate, we’re geniuses - PassMark - AMD EPYC 7B13 - Price performance comparison considering the 3995wx still retails for $10,000 CAD.

What I didn’t do, and apparently should have done, was take another look at all of the other OEM-specific SKUs that I assumed could not have worked with this and other motherboards. All of the Dell and Lenovo SKUs were way cheaper, and I just shrugged them off.

Which would these be? I've seen the 7T83 and 7V13 but they're about double the price. The 7J13 is the only other one I've found for a similar price (slightly higher clockspeed/power consumption vs the 7B13 so it's a better replacement for a threadripper if that's what you're after).

The Dell and Lenovo SKUs won't work on retail motherboards. They are the regular models, so like 7713, 7763 etc. but locked to Dell/Lenovo motherboards and won't boot at all on a Supermicro/ASRock board.

Ah, well I was thinking of the Lenovo Threadripper SKU CPUs listed on eBay. Already ordered the 7B13 so probably not going to order another one - and the ones I’ve found are all $2000+.

I’ll confirm whether any of this works out.

All I know is that folks on this thread have reported that the 7B13 works with the ASrock ROMED8-2T, and several other SuperMicro boards.

Perhaps this isn’t a vendor locked CPU?

From EPYC 7B13+H12SSL-i 详细测评 detailing the OEM models:

7763 Retail (P/N ending in) 312, which the oem units are based on
7W83 Baidu Cloud 314
7B13 GCP 335
7V13 Azure 343
7J13 Oracle 346
7K83 Tencent Cloud 347
7T83 Alibaba Cloud 348

according to the poster all have 280W cTDP, but differ in base clock and to a lesser degree, boost clocks

AMD never ships locked SKU. they become Vendor locked after plugged in a locking motherboard.
I didn’t realize the “lock-in” was something as egregious as blowing tiny coded fuses in the CPU. It’s like some kind of venereal disease for processors.

The seller claims the CPU has not been vendor locked, so I’ve got hope.

Ah, this is fascinating. Thanks for posting this! Presumably a GCP node isn’t going to vendor-lock or do whatever this total breech of engineering ethics comprises. ;)

If you want absolute maximum boost clock, get the 7443P, 24c/48t which will keep all cores synced to 4Ghz under 100% load. Use to run that one on my RomeD8-2T boards until I heard the siren call of moar cores.
