Nice find. Any idea what the idle/ load power consumption is on the 1U/ 2U systems with these?

And someone needs to Linux-Bench them!

I have 2 of them sitting on a board I need to re-test. Maybe this weekend I will be able to get to it and linux bench it. I tried linux benching my dual e5-2450l (8c/16t 1.8ghz) system but I don't think it worked right.

Wondering if it would be worthy update in terms of power consumption to Supermicro X8DTE running single L5630 with 6x8GB DDR3L.

What about motherboard? Is it possible to get somewhere cheap Intel S1400FP ?

Have been able to find the S1400FP for around 160-180 on ebay in the past

I understand that you don't have benchmarks handy, but anecdotally what's your experience been with the 2418s? Would you recommend them?

There's such a scarcity of information about them online (that's probably part of the reason why they're so cheap)...

I have a S7042AGM2NR with a single E5-2418L with about 10 vms on esxi, works great. Using it as an AIO with 4 8gb sticks of ram, 12 hard drives in a supermicro case with a 1200w ps and it idles about 150w with the drives still spun up.

I have over 16 systems using E5-24xx cpus. If you search for my posts, you see more info.

I mentioned earlier this year, $100 system board, with 2 x E5-24xx cpu == $250 total , still cheaper than an I7-4xxx cpu.
Intel H2312JFJR Server with dual E5-2430L 6c/12t @ 2.00 ghz , 48gb mem
CineBench 1140cb

SuperMicro X9DBL-iF single E5-2430L with 24gb Windows 2012 R2 CineBench R15 = 561 cb
power consume 40-50w idle
WS12R2 with E5-1428L 6c/12t , idle at 32w , Prime95 load 88w

One more data point

ASUS Z9NA-D6 lga1356 , 48gb mem
dual QA94 B0 es , 8c/16t per cpu @2.00ghz
Cinebench 1471cb

Cinebench R15 on this dual E5-24xx system is almost 95% to my other dual E5-2650 ,
but considered the QA94 cpu was selling like $15 each in early 2013.

Has anyone seen any benchmarks for these chips?

What is the smallest motherboard using the 1356 socket? A single mITX or uATX might be ideal, but dual sockets are probably ok. I say probably because some of the memory and PCIe slots often don't work with only 1 of 2 processors installed.

On the other hand I wonder how 2 of these on an ATX board would compare to the E3-1225V3 that is in my primary workstation? There are lots of small 1150 boards for the 1150 and a dual E5-2418L might make for a nice upgrade. Definitely slower single core, but I would move from 4 cores (without hyperthreading) to 8 cores with hyperthreading and from 2 channel to 3 channel RAM. I might also be able to get an onboard SAS controller.

I really like that these take registered DDR3L vs unregistered ECC as they are significantly cheaper and 16GB sticks are widely available. I've picked up a few 16GB sticks of Samsung registered DDR3l 1600MHz for under $100 each. 8GB unregistered ECC is around $70.

Search Intel S1400FP2, one Ebay seller has a few, try 50% of his asking price.

Any leads or tips on bulk quantity IPMI enabled motherboards for these E5-2400 CPUs?

See my post #8 , Tyan server board have ipmi , the downside of the tyan board is size , need full size ATX case.
I own over 6 Tyan boards, work well within the price range ( around $100 each )
