The ones you have listed have the WDEZZX (Blue) drives not Reds. Currently the only other way to get reds is with the WD Duos that retail at $499.

I'm also seeing the price bump on the 4's. Browsing the other threads that follow this deal elsewhere it's done this before. The price has been on and off 2 or 3 times since the 15th, so maybe it'll come back again. Who knows.

This deals will come back again...

I bought 4tb external seagate on walmart clearance late 2016 or early 2017.
Scored 6 for $25 each.
Actually got 7. One was open item. The previouse buyer replace the drive with an old hd.
I returned it on the next day.
Be carefull buying open item usb external drive.

Scored 5tb external for $100 on late 2016.

I was going back to the deal, considering 3x8TB in tripple mirror is a really nice backup capacity, low # of drives/power etc... tempting :)
I think my 3x5TB will last a year or two more though hehe

My own self-impose policy, if a good deal that I have no need, wait 24 hours cooling period.
Waked up this morning , proceeded to order 3 x 8 TB disks from BB.

Right now I have redundant backups of all my imp files and music but only one copy of my media. As part of my rebuild decided to back them up too. That's the main reason for storage expansion.

Or so I told myself :)

LOL @K D & @CyberSkulls -- sounds like something my wife would say to me "justify it however you want"... except no backing me up, ha ha ha!!

As I realize how much EXTRA I have I'm starting to tell myself "if you have to think IF you need it, or WHERE it could be used... DO NOT BUY" ha haha!!

I need one to offload my ssds to move them onto an lba with zfs.

And if I'm going to get one I definitely need 7 and if I get 7 I may as well fill up an SC846.... And if I fill up a 24 disk shelf I may as well....

TBH I was planning on getting 6TB reds and I just went with the count of drives I had planned rather than take capacity into account.

Might have to unload my 1275V6 after all.
